Re: Spam Defense
I haven't read through anything past the first page, but here's an idea to help you guys with spam defense.
I run two forums myself and I was having a problem with spammers, so what I did was set up a user group (we'll call it Registered Users for simplicity), that did not have the ability to post new threads or send private messages, but could post replies to threads. I made it so that once a Registered User posted x number of posts in currently existing threads, they would then go to the usergroup Members, and Members can then post new threads. This all but totally stopped the spam problem on my forums.
I tied to post 2 or 3 times before I realized this. The post had URL's to pictures of my new CTS-V. Then I tried to send a message to the webmaster, but it also got kicked (it had no links) Hopefully this will get through and someone can help me. Thanks.
