Unable to access site from Navy network at work

As of a few weeks ago I have been unable to reach the site from work. For the year prior to that I could access the site just fine. When I try to get to the forums I get the following error message:

    Network Error

The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.

    A communication error occurred: ""

If you believe you have received this message in error, please contact the NMCI Service Desk at 866.843.6624. Please provide the exact URL (web site address) you were attempting to access, along with the specific error message.
The computer is on the Navy Marine Corps Internet (NMCI). It's a Win7 machine running Internet Explorer (I think it's IE8); there's no other browser, and we can't install software so there's no way for me to try another browser. I don't believe the problem is on my end, anyway (see next paragraph).

I called the NMCI Service Desk and the tech that I spoke with was also unable to get the site to load - he saw the same error message - so it's not something with my desktop or my settings. That makes me wonder if the site is blocking access from NMCI IPs or something along those lines?

FWIW, www.corral.net (a Mustang site I also visit) has been giving me the same indications for the same period of time.

Re: Unable to access site from Navy network at work

Interestingly enough, today I'm able to access the site from work. However, it is excrutiangly slow, taking 4-5 minutes to load each page. So I'm still curious if there's something on the forum/webhosting end of things that isn't right/normal.

Re: Unable to access site from Navy network at work

Several of us have been having load time problems - but the Navy network should be pretty quick. 2 or 3 Mods have posted the problem in Team and I think the Admin techs are fooling with site ads and add-ons - that usually really screws things up for a while.

The Navy network may have some filters built in - over the years some members have complained that CF is slow or non-existent on some networks due to spam filters blocking different parts of the forums.

I've had problems with the site being slow in the past, but that seemed to have been resolved over a year ago. Everything was fine until a month or so ago, at which point I lost access completely. I'm back to being able to access the site, but it's still really, really slow - like 5 minute page loads.

I'll bet the farm that it's the huge advertising load in CF and your Navy site is having a rough time handling all the ads and redirects, dataloggers and cookie droppers.

    PM me.

Re: Unable to access site from Navy network at work

I've noticed that government agencies tend to block our sites from their staff. I think the ads that are on our site contribute to that. I will talk to our techs and see what we can do to get it unblocked for you.

Update: AAIIC I am sending you a PM.
