    Re: Colors of forum

I have to agree that the old layout and color scheme was much easier on the eyes.

    Re: Colors of forum

Agree. No problem with 'blue', but there was previously quite a bit of contrast between headers, posts and quote sections. This definitely blends together and is difficult to scan.

Yep, strangely enough the change has made me not care much about the forum. I spend way less time on here now...which my wife loves.

    Re: Colors of forum

Not only the colors, but some of the features of the old forum format are gone and some of the features on the new one don't work correctly.

Like... whatever happened to the Forum Members list at the top of the page?
If it's on here somewhere.. I can't find it.

Search feature is FUBAR for sure.

    Poast counts are back, though.

As usual, I'll roll with it.

    Re: Colors of forum

    - The new color scheme is not very distinct, as others have already stated.
    - If you create a new thread, and select one of the little icons to make the thread stand out, it really doesn't do much. All of the threads have the same giant envelope thing on the left, and then a tiny little icon next to the envelope.
    - The page jump is no longer at the bottom of threads, so if you want to go to the next page you have to go back to the top of the page.
    - The forum jump is also no longer at the bottom of threads, so if you want to jump to another forum you have to back out to the forum page and then go from there.
    - Search results come up in some completely hosed up format that makes it very difficult to read.
    - Thread pages take noticeably longer to load, even on my 25MBs cable connection. Often when the page is done loading for some reason the screen scrolls to the left, so half the text is off the left side of the screen.

That's just a few issues I've seen. All in all, I'm completely unimpressed by the "upgrade" to a new software version. This is the only forum of the half dozen or so that I visit that has moved to this new version. I'm a bit perplexed that just a couple weeks ago I was prompted to renew my sponsor membership with pleas that the server load was too great, and yet shortly thereafter the forum was upgraded to a new software version that seems to me sucks up more memory and bandwidth. It's unfortunate that this is about the only dedicated Caddy/V resource online, because it's without question the most frustrating automotive forum I visit.

Edit: This isn't a new thing, but I've never understood why this forum doesn't highlight new threads in some manner. Literally EVERY other forum I've ever visited - automotive, audio/video equipment, fitness, you name it - breaks out new threads in a manner that makes it very simple for users to load the forum and immediately see what has changed since the last time they visited. As a couple examples, here are NASIOC.com and LS1tech.com forum pages:

It must be some sort of admin-configurable display setting, so can we get this site set up to display threads the same way? Please?

    Re: Colors of forum

I haven't been on this forum much lately since it changed. It does seem though that a number of other forums I used to visit changed format and lost many forum members to the point where I rarely if ever return. I don't know why this seems to happen. When I had a car with a carb I left it alone when it was working. (ie if it ain't broke DON'T fix it) It seems like forums try to get better and in the process, lose all the members.
