That DeVille has actually been on and off Craigslist since January. It will never sell at that price. For $3500 its not a bad deal though. I paid $4k for my '95 and it had 57K miles when I bought it.

They have all of the luxury features of a Cadillac or Mercedes (without the name, prestige, history.....or repair bills ), you can get them for a decent amount of money (a good, low mileage 05-07 one is usually $17-20k, and some of them will still have the factory warranty), they're fast, fun to drive and decent on gas....and they take 87 octane!! They're probably cheap(er) to repair than what I'm used to, and I've got an account down in Rochester that is a Nissan dealer, so I could have them do all the repairs and maintenance for a good deal (probably ). Sure, it's not a super sweet Cadillac Brougham or DTS, but it's a lot more manageable and easy to live with at my age...
And besides, I've always kinda liked Nissan, especially the Maximas. Someone said that the Maxima was the "poor man's 3 Series", and I like how that sounds, because I'm a poor man and I like how 3 Series drive.
When I was the part time parts and service cashier at Walser Nissan in '05-'06, I drove an '02 Maxima GLE, and I was quite impressed. It was faster than a Northstar Cadillac, quite well equipped and luxurious. I didn't really care for how light it felt, but I could get over that.
I could do one of these...

My grandparents have a '98 I30 that drives extremely nice and the v-6 has A LOT of power to its name.
However, I think you would be better suited by this. |

But they are a nice cars though...
Not that I didn't give an early Q45 a thought.....
I've never had a "new" car before. Everything I've had is atleast 8 years old. I'm kinda excited to have a car with navigation, iPod input, keyless ignition, stability control, a CVT tranny (maybe not that so much), etc etc. |

My next used Cadillac might be a 4.9L early 90s Deville. Their owners tend to baby them. |

I have driven one extensively. It's overweight, has a gaudy interior, and is completely devoid of chassis response.
5.5 gens (02-03) are quick, have a decent interior, and have decent feedback.
4th gen was the pinnacle. my 97 is still the best handling FWD car I have ever driven. They are kind of old now, but if you can find 99 Chad, that would be a winner.
The 7th gen is just awesome. Though I have never driven one, and that's probably out of your price range.
oh, and since you were complaining about the repair costs on your S, maximas are not exactly cheap to fix either.

I still hate anything German though. |

Other than a previous-generation 3-Series and some Audis, German cars just don't toast my bread. The maintenance, repair and parts costs also keep me away. A Cadillac may not be cheap to repair, but it's going to be less than most European cars. | | Tags | 2830, august, chicago, discussion, dragway, great, horrible, lakes, meet, official, public, thread, trans | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
