There is now a signup thread:

Since it appears we have reached a consensus on the date, I figured it would be a good idea to start a thread for the meet itself and organizing some of the logistics. I know Jimmy and Nick have offered to help get things organized, and I'm willing to help out where I can to get things moving. I've had a great time at the three meets I've attended (Des Moines 2007, Chicago 2008 and 2009), so I'm really looking forward to another road trip.

First off, here’s a list of people who’ve said they might be interested in coming. Feel free to add to this list:

Out-of-town drivers:

  • Me (natch) and Hoover
  • Brian (90_Brougham_350) and possibly Ruthie
  • Chad
  • Tanner (Derrty_Deville)
  • Jesda
  • Kurt (KFX)
  • Gizmo
  • Rick (NightWolf)
  • Jim (TBJS)
  • Nick
  • Justin

Fly-in/Maybes:

  • Tony (TTS)

Locals @ the winter meet:

  • Nicki
  • JimmyH
  • JD (Dirt_Cheap_Fleetwood)
  • Gary88
  • Kael

Other locals to invite:

  • Elias (96 Fleetwood)
  • John (JRau)
  • Keith (AlBundy)
  • Larry (Ranger)
  • Tom (N0DIH)

If I’ve forgotten anybody, it’s not intentional. Just add yourself to the list.

As summer gets closer, it’d be a good idea to firm up who’s coming so we can make reservations for dinners/Sunday brunch/hotel/golf, etc. I know if may seem early, but this way anybody who needs to take vacation time can plan ahead.

But I liked my Isuzu. It was a fun little truck, albeit a death trap.

How about "Big & Rich" or just "Big Rich?"

Re: Chicago Meet -- August 28-30 -- Official thread

I may go with either Overkill or Gramps since I own two old people cars. Other suggestions are welcome since I am not very creative.

I have no idea what to make mine besides "gurl"... :(
We could go with Blondie. :)

That was also the name of Hitler's dog BTW. :hide:

The Nissan motor is a more reliable engine than that Yamahahahama 3.0 and 3.2 engine, but that yammy can sing and dance like that VQ couldn't dream of.

The Yamaha isn't a set it and forget it motor. However, if you do keep it up with proper maintenance, they will run forever...

shirts? really? how about matching jumpsuits?
I'm with Jim on this one......I'd rather spend the $20 on a drink or two, and I really don't ever wear t-shirts.

We have to go to Uncle Bub's sometime as well, mainly because they have Green River at the soda fountain.

You didn't go to North? I went there and had to spend a hour and a half on a bus each day. It sucked.

Nope, parents wanted me to go to catholic grade school plus I lived in Westmont at the time, not Downers Grove. Thankfully, I only had to ride the bus in 3rd grade. Before that, my friend's mom always drove us to school. I ended up taking the bus all the time when I moved to PA in 4th grade. I was on there for about an hour and a half like you :crybaby:

Re: Chicago Meet -- August 28-30 -- Official thread

Dang hour and half on the bus reminds me of grade school.....though those were the country routes that some of my classmates were on the bus for up to an hour one way, thankfully I lived just outside of town and was always last one on and first one off :). The joys of growing up out in the boonies.

Re: Chicago Meet -- August 28-30 -- Official thread

My senior year of high school when I started going to Technology Center of DuPage (a branch of College of DuPage for high school kids) for the afternoon I had to spend around 2.5 hours on the bus each day. It took 45 minutes to get to/from school in the morning/afternoon and then another half hour each way to get to/from TCD. My mp3 player has a lot of hours on it from those days.

At least you suburban people get nice buses. I ride the CTA. :crybaby:
Actually, our buses sucked. The didn't have A/C and due to some stupid safety rules you could only open the windows about 5". They had nasty vinyl seats that your ass sticks to in the summer and the seats were so small I had to sit sideways. When it was hot and rainy out you couldn't open the windows or else you got soaked. It was basically like a sauna on those days.

Winter wasn't much better either. Half the bus drivers were retarded and never turned on the rear heat, only the front heat, and you were lucky if the bus even had heat to begin with. The other half of the drivers just cranked it and you roasted alive sitting there in your winter coat. You would yell at them to turn it down but they would turn it off and then forget to turn it back on. It was enough to drive you crazy. :bighead:

Re: Chicago Meet -- August 28-30 -- Official thread

I made a promise to myself... I will not... for as long as I live... will use public transport. I dont care if gas is $5 a gal, and parking is $50... I wont do it. Too many scary people. Plus, I have a Cadillac that I love driving! If Im not on vacation, I will see yall at the Chicago meet... Also planning on doing the Driven' the Dixie run in June. If anyone has ever done it... Its a drive down Dixie highway from Blue Island to Momence. There is a car show at the end, and last year Cadillacs got 2nd and 3rd if I remember correctly. Any make or model can run in it, but to be judged the car has to be 25 yrs or older. I still had a good time last year.

I live a stones throw away from Blue Island (quite literally), so it wouldn't be out of my way to come.

Re: Chicago Meet -- August 28-30 -- Official thread

Out where I'm at I don't have a problem avoiding the Public Transportation....mostly cause the only public transit is the shuttle that takes the retired to the various medical complexes in the area, and of course the bi-monthly run from the Senior Citizen's center to the Casino!

Re: Chicago Meet -- August 28-30 -- Official thread -- Public Trans is horrible

Endless, is there a website for that thing? If I am not visiting my cousins in Kansas City I would be interested. I have been dying to take the Brougham on a trip that is more than the 5 miles to school.

Re: Chicago Meet -- August 28-30 -- Official thread -- Public Trans is horrible

Id be interested in coming to the meet, me being the lazy person I am I am not going to try and read this 14 page thread through and through. So, where are we meeting and on what days?

Id love to go, and actually meet all you smart-ass Cadillac people, if that's alright with you guys... :)

Out here in Barrington Illinois there is NO public transportation, just a bunch of jerks with lambos, ferraris, and other exotic cars.

Oh and Gurl I'm thinking of going to De Paul, I might see you there!

Do you have to pay to drive in it or only if you are having your car judged?
