So Jimmy, since the meet is now just three months away (  ), have you asked Volo about reserving the picnic area on Saturday afternoon (Aug. 29)?
Also, I have a reservation at the Red Roof Inn in Downers Grove since I need a dog-friendly place. Rates are decent and it's not like we'd be spending a lot of time in the hotel anyway. But there are group rates available, and if enough people from out of town are interested, I can call about group rates.

Would anybody else be up for mini-golf instead of regular golf? I suck royally at golf but am pretty good at mini-golf. |

I know of at least three golfers who coming: me, Gary Hebding and Nick. If Tony comes up from Florida, that will be four. Maybe others. I wouldn't say no to a round of mini golf since it wouldn't be bad practice for my putting, but I'm pretty sure there will be a round at a course near Downers Grove or Lemont Sunday afternoon. That way any out-of-town non-golfers like Brian and Chad can head home after Sunday brunch, as we did in Des Moines.
My game can range all the way from godawful to not too shabby, and I can vary that much in a single hole, much less a full round. Last Sunday, I hit a gorgeous, straight, 215-yard drive, then thoroughly botched the rest of the hole for a 5 over par. On another hole, I went into 3-foot tall grass twice and finally had to invoke the mercy rule, yet I made a 20-foot putt when it didn't matter any more. And on a 150-yard par three, where everybody else had crappy drives going every which way but straight, I had a beautiful drive that landed right on the green about 30 feet from the cup. Couldn't birdie it from that far away, but it was still a reasonably easy par. So no matter how bad you might be, I could very well be worse. At least on some holes.  |

If I can convince a few friends of mine to come with for the day on Saturday, I'd definitely be down. Won't be able to get confirmation until that week, though.
Can't help but feel that the Fleetwood was made for road trips. |
