A guy I know just bought an '02 Prius. He had to have the battery replaced at a Toyota dealer. It cost him $4,000.

Yep. And those batteries are worse for the environment than the CO2 that would have been released if it was a non-hybrid vehicle. Those batteries usually go bad 75K-100K miles.

OK. It's in the Daytimer. A trip to Costa Rica is the only possible conflict. Maybe my buiness with Quaker Oats will give me the final excuse. Sure sounds like the V's will need a lil help in the representin' department.

Am I the only person that has a CB radio in their car? Those would be useful on the Saturday cruise and are a hell of a lot of fun when you got a big group like this.

Yes you're the only one with CB radio... the rest of us live in 2008, not 1978. "Breaker one niner, can I get a 20 on the smokeys? over."

I'll try to be there... it's in my hometown, so it's a good excuse to go back.

Cool, all the way from Georgia, sounds like a great road trip. Last year we had someone make the trip from Oregon.

I think the CB has been replaced by the cell phone. So all the inattentive chatty soccer moms can tie up traffic.

There is nothing more convenient than having a CB radio in a traffic jam. I can talk to a trucker and figure out wtf is going on and what lane is fastest or if there is another way around, and most times I know about it a few miles before I get there.

you should know as well as I that there is NO getting around traffic jams in Chicago. you bail on one, you end up in another.

I can get around them just fine. I live in the suburbs, so no alleyways or exits in the middle of the highway here. I know all the backroads around where I travel frequently and I literally let the traffic lights decide which way to go. I have to agree on the traffic in the city though. The worst one is the strangler, where I-80, I-294 and I-290 meet. The actual one lane part isn't that bad, but it is almost guaranteed to be backed up by the time you get to Mannheim. 3PM in the afternoon on a Sunday and you are stopped in the middle of the damn interstate wondering what could possible have caused this.
