Hey everyone!

I have a couple of questions regarding the factory stereo in my Escalade. I would like to upgrade some things (maybe) and wanted to get a better idea of what would be the best course of action.

First of all, does the factory head unit have preamp outputs that can be used to drive an aftermarket sub and amp? I would like to put a different subwoofer in the Escalade, since I have one lying unused in storage. I have doubts that the factory unit does have the preamp outs because of the Bose premium system. Maybe I am wrong, though. My Escalade has the navigation system but it is not the touchscreen model. I also have the 6 disc changer.

I have also considered replacing the head completely, in favor of a more feature-filled Pioneer AVIC F700BT (with the newest software, of course). I love the idea of voice controlled iPod functionality and the enhanced navigation and Bluetooth options. I would need to purchase the harness that is supposed to retain the door chimes, OnStar functionality, and the use of the Bose system, but it seems like it may be worthwhile.

My second question, going along with the AVIC head, is about the disc changer. How does the factory changer work with the factory head unit? Pioneer makes a 6 disc changer that works with the F700BT and looks as though it would fit right where the current one is. It is, unfortunately, quite pricey. I do love having six CDs loaded up so it would be a future upgrade to consider. If, however, the factory changer could interface with the F700BT (though it seems like a long shot) I would be quite thrilled. The Pioneer model is the XDV-P6.

Thanks in advance for any information, suggestions, or tips!

The dealer guy says on the 06 Escalade at 60K+ miles the hoses now need to be replaced and at $475. Seems high to me. I already paid them to do a flush before so that wont be necessary. Not sure if the hoses are truly ready or not? Nothing is obvious.

Good year says they dont make a Hi-Miler hose set for it.
I was looking for longer life or silicone hoses for it and change part or all of them myself. I am skilled enough to change out hoses, radiator etc.

The labor question I have is what is the deal w/ those crimp looking connections on the heater hoses back by the firewall? And where do the metal lines go from there - the ones that look like a/c lines tee'ing off from the htr hose?
Are they hairy to deal with? Should I cut the htr house and just couple in new hose to the front?

Is the 45 degree T up front below and over from the reservoir reuseable?

If I go w/ 'normal' or silicone hoses, Where can I buy hoses and not go broke?

One more Q: Is there any kind of pressure relief valve to loosen or remove when releasing / replacing coolant?

We're looking at purchasing a 2006 Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum for $25,900. It has almost 80k miles on it. I LOVE the room but for some reason, I'm really nervous about it. Maybe because it's such a big vehicle. The speaker covers on the door are a little dirty, the sun room doesn't seem to vent up..it'll just open all the way, and one of the front console's lid doesn't stay shut. There is a small slice in the material on the right side back door which concerns me. It there a way to fix it or to prevent it from opening more or is it a deal breaker? These are all pretty cosmetic. My father who is mechanic, looked the engine over and said that it looks pretty good.

So, would you buy it? We're getting rid of our 03 Trailblazer and 06 Silverado for this.

Hey All: I am from New England and have a limo company. I am looking for suggestions for a 2006 Escalade ESV for tires. I'm most concerned with a a quiet smoothe ride that has good tread wear and I can get around 60,000 miles out of them. Mostly highway driving and I rotate every other oil change. I have GoodYear on them now and just hit 50,000 miles and they are worn to the point I need new ones. Also the GoodYears were pretty bad with road noise.
Any suggestions would be helpful
I checked the blend door accuator and the temp one wasnt moving.... The face, face/floor, and floor accuator was working. Both accuators are the exact same, so I swapped them. The accuator that I thought was bad when hooked up in the other position it turned only once and stopped working. Now neither one works. Fuses are good. Could my problem be in the overhead switch, or would it be the accuators? Some guidence would be appriciated.. thanks!

I've got an 04 escalade esv that i've had for about a year and a half. its got roughly 116kkk on it now. I recently had the check engine light come on the other week and i could never get it to connect to the scan tool. the truck still runs fine and no problems. the only thing is that a while back it started having starting problems, but only when i put gas in it for the first time. after i put gas in it and start it up it will work perfect everytime until i put gas in it again.
anyone know anything that may help?

the ceck engine light is on now. i unhooked the battery for a while to see if it would come on again and as soon as i hook the battery up and turn the key on the light comes back on. so that should tell me its a hard fault and not just bad gas or something. and also it wont connect to the scanner so theres a problem somewhere.

the truck is all stock with no mods except big brakes, wheels, tires. stock radio and everything.

any help would greatly be appreciated.

Hey guys,

I was wondering if you can help me out a bit. Since you guys are all owners of the Escalade, I wanted some of your input before I base my decision to purchase. A gentleman on Craigslist is selling a 2002 Escalade, Pearl White, w/ 62K miles on it. It is a 2WD with a 5.3 liter engine. Here are some facts that kind of make me second guess on purchasing.

- I will be 4th owner. 2nd owner leased the vehicle.
- Rims are very nice. They are 22's, but they are in need of replacment. Last time they were replaced was back in 2004. Stock tires are not included with vehicle.
-Back roof brake light is out. Needs replaced/ repaired.

Other than that, the Escalade is very nice and looks awesome. Blue book values this vehicle 15,200 under "good" condition. What do you guys think? Any problems with 02 Escalades with 5.3 engine? I appreciate any feedback from you guys. Thanks guys!

-Future Escalade Owner

Is there a way around not being able to watch DVD's on the front screen? If not, can you suggest a good aftermarket in-dash system where all my steering wheel controls would still be compatible?
My rear parking assist doesn't chime and only shows a single red blinking light. Any answers as to why this might be?

Well ... one instance when I started my 03 ext it ran ok for a few seconds then the stability system disabled came up on the dic and the the reduced engine power message came up also on the dic... i realize what the reduced engine power message is for and why it happens but I believe it was a glitch this time ... I shut off the truck and then restarted it and both messages went away ... this hasnt happened in a while ... today i was driving home and as I was driving I saw my fog lights were off and I attempted to turn them on and right after I pused that button it happened again while I was driving ... the stability message and the reduced engine power message came up... I was going actually up an incline and from what I remember your engine power is reduced to 20 percent to protect the motor in case of a low coolant situation... and let me tell you I almost didnt make it up that incline and the car behine me was not liking it ! .. i turned off that street sat there and tried turning the truck on and off a couple times this time everything didnt go away ... both messages didnt come on again on the dic but this time the service engine light stayed on my dashboarde !.. what the hell gives here ... has anyone delt with this type of situation ???

So I've had my '05 for a few weeks now, and there's a few features that my 10 year old STS has that I'm shocked an '05 Escalade doesn't have!
I'm not sure if it's because the key isn't programmed right, but when using the different fobs, it doesn't go to the other settings. Like the seat doesn't move forward when my short wife goes to drive it, she has to push the "2" button on the door.
I also wish it had the rainsense wipers! Adjusting the wiper speed manually is just too hard for me! :histeric: But the rainsense is nice! :)
And when starting it, I'm so used to starting my STS by a quick turn of the key, instead of having to hold it down with the Escalade. WTF? I thought all newer vehicles had that?
The auto volume control also seems to reduce the volume too much when you come to a stop. I'm sure there's no way to adjust it.
Other than these little quirks I really like my Escalade.

Is the bose system really all the bad, back in the day yea but now they are in Nissans. Also I really just wanted to put some more base but the bose amp isnt the best.
What do you cadillac owners think about this set up, Ive heard the alpine with fosgate well be the best set up?

I just bought a 05 ESV 6.0. It has 100k on it. MINT MINT condition inside and out, like new. I bought it about 2 weeks ago and earlier this week I put on my winters. I never noticed it at the begining but when im driving and my foot is on the gas the engine seems to be louder then before not sure if its the tires but when I let go of the gas even at like 120km/h its very quiet its when I touch the gas the engine seems to be louder then usual.

While driving I can put it in nuteral and touch the gas and its very quiet. Im not sure if it could be the transmission or not struggeling? So I dont know what the problem is, can anyone help?

Thanks

From a stand still and under normal acceleration and driving conditions, I will sometimes get a notice on the "info. display" that the traction control is active, ( of course I can feel it engaging as well ). The owners manual says it is normal for the system to reset itself but it sometimes happens two to three times in succession. I don't think it's normal to do that.

Searches aren't very clear on this. I know there are people that have done it, but my question is 'how'? I have an 04, and I know where the amp is. I've taken apart the console, and I see the amp with the two wire harnesses plugged in.

Is there an amp bypass wire harness that I can get? Will the door chimes and all that still work if the amp is bypassed? I'm thinking about maybe trying to install a powered woofer in there if I can remove it successfully. I've measured and yanking out the factory amp and that bracket that covers it would give me a space that's about 3" high and 10" wide.

Hello everyone 1st post. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

I have had my 05 Escalade since Feb, no problems.

In May I put some 24 inch rims and tires on it. Everything fine. Last week I put the OEM tires back on for the winter. Well the next day I went out of town (80 miles round trip) and on the way home my oil pressure dropped to zero.

The next day I started it up and the oil pressure was fine so I took it to the Cadillac dealership. Everything seemed to be fine. They couldn't find anything wrong with anything. I had them change the oil since I almost due for one.

Haven't had the oil pressure drop since but it still worries the crap out of me. Does seem to run just littler higher now but maybe that is because I am watching it all the time now.

I seem to recall them having to recalibrate computer when putting 24's on but then when I had OEM's put back on they said it didn't need recalibrated. I told them I thought they did when the 24's were put on. I'm pretty sure I did.

Now the dumbest question ever (take it easy on me lol), would the computer not being recalibrated (if indeed I did have it done when 24's were put on) have anything to do with the gauges? Or was it just a coincidence?

cold weather be attributing to the problem? It was very cold the night the OP dropped, hasn't been near that cold since. Just your normal 45-55 degree Maryland fall weather.

I usually don't drive it except around town so maybe it was an issue before but didn't notice until I drove it longer?

I'm just lost here and not sure I trust the dealership now

It's white diamond color (very clean). I'm looking to part with my very dependable 2000 Expidition (165,000 miles). After the trade, I'm looking at $14,300. Does this sound like a good deal or am I just over excited about owning a Caddy?

Ok, so I've given this a lot of thought, and I can't quite figure out what to put in place of the stock CD changer. I have a 7" touch screen nav display, I put in a 15" flip down, and I'm going to replace the stock rear seat radio controls with a 7" monitor, so replacing the CD changer with a monitor might be a little overkill.

I'm not too fond of the idea of just sticking a universal pocket right there, because 1. There already is a pocket right above the CD changer and 2. Everything else is trimmed in woodgrain. A universal pocket wouldn't match with everything else in my opinion.

Does anyone have anything else in place of the CD changer? Does anyone have any pics?

AVIC FEEDS iPhone App Demo Video on YouTube

Pioneer Electronics has recently released its first iPhone® application, AVIC FEEDS App. The app was created for Pioneer's new AVIC-U310BT and AVIC-Z110BT in-dash navigation systems. Pioneer's AVIC FEEDS App allows iPhone owners to find points of interest (POI) or search for destinations ahead of time on their phone and easily upload them via Bluetooth® to their Pioneer navigation systems. You no longer have to manually enter address information into your Pioneer unit.

Hey guys:
Went in today to talk to the shop owner about some questions I had with the transmission overhaul on my truck about 9 months ago. I asked him when the fluid should be changed, and he suggested 24-30 months. I asked him what type, Dextrom VI?? And he replied no, Dextron III.
I could swear I read on here somewhere that GM now mandates dectrom VI for tranny and still Dextron III for transfer case.
I explained this to him, and he said that he was "unaware" of that change, and that he thought it was only vehicles built after 2006 that called for Dextron VI. Sounded like a bull story to me, but before I really put my foot in my mouth, what is the "TRUTH"?
Is there an actual bulletin that I can print and present to him??
Please let me know.
THANKS
If it does in fact call for dextron VI, should I demand it get replaced with the right fluid or let it be??? Is there that much of a difference??

I have a 2003 Esclade that has an intermittent problem. During the fall and spring we will be driving and all of a sudden we get an error message that says "reduced engine power *** traction disabled" The vehicle slows and will not go faster than about 25 mph. If we pull over and shut it off the problem goes away. Lately, it has been happening more frequently; as much as 4-5 times during a 20-30 mile trip.

We have taken the vehicle to the dealer and they cleaned some sort of cord on the throttle body. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem?

I just got back from driving the '05 that my uncle sold me, from Florida to Maine. It was a very long trip and I did 1,560 miles over 2 days and surprisingly averaged 18.6 MPG. More than I expected for a 6 liter engine!
Well, here's some pics of it with just 57,000 on it now:

So far, I'm loving it! A very comfortable ride and with the nav system and sunroof, it's got all I could ask for!
It is 2WD, but with the new Goodyear Fortera Triple Treads, it should do fine in the snow.

I have an 02 Escalade, and just replaced the ABS valve control assembly because of a leak. We put it all back together and all was well for 3 weeks. We only replaced the ABS valve assembly and not the computer module controller.

The issue I have now is when I start to drive, the ABS runs a system test. Normally you hear the ABS motor run for about a second and go off. Now the ABS turns on and off six times, each time running for about four seconds. After the sixth test cycle the Service Stability system comes on, and I have no ABS brakes.

Has any one experienced this? I have blead the complete system, and no air at all. For some reason the ABS pump is not passing the start up test.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, i finally got my truck running so i'll post up some pics. I still have a few things left (methanol install, tuning, waste gate outlet to exhaust). But i'm actually driving it now so i'm happy. It's taken me 7 weeks to get this far, 60 hours a week, 15 hours at school and modding Wii's has only let me work on the truck about 3-4 hours a week. Some details are it's a KB racing log, stock driver side manifold, TiAL 50mm blowoff valve, TiAL F46 wastegate, T-76 ball bearing Turbonetics turbo, big ass intercooler, Eboost 2. At first i had just welded the 3.5" down pipe to the stock catback to get it running, but with cut outs closed it felt to restrictive and open it was way too loud, so i bought a Magnaflow and some pipe. came out pretty good, i think.

Alright, yesterday... i get into my EXT and notice that the interior lights were dim.
So, automatically i popped the hood got the jump box out and in a hurry i put it on 12v, started the car, and jumped out. The jump box was reading 14v turned it off fast as i could. But, when i started the car my lower dvd player turned on and off on its own (in the 6disc bin) that shorted out. Were is the fuse for the 6disc? To my main question, i had to build up the story. When i started to go down the rode i noticed my interior rear view mirror and my left mirror slowly start to turn black. The mirror have almost zero visibility after about 25 minutes of driving they dimmed back down. Any ideas of what this can be, do i need to by new mirrors?:hmm:
Please help
Also random things turn on my car and drain my battery like my nav but usually from my Ipod turning of for a second:nono:. Going to by an optima battery so it will last over night.
Thanks, eskilade

1. My key fobs are not working. I believe the battery is fine because both fobs are not working. When I bought the truck it was in working order. I don't know why it stopped. I did reprogram the fobs and it still doesn't work. I checked the fuses and they are fine. When I click the lock from drivers panel then close the door I see the cluster security light is flashing. Maybe it's a bad BCM? I'm sick of having to manually unlock the darn doors. Any ideas?
Also I have another problem lol.
2. You know the perimeter light? Mine doesn't work! What the hell! I did set the perimeter on but it still doesn't work. Both bulbs and fuses are good.
3. Heated seats. When I push the button for both heated seat and back, after like 10 seconds it turns off itself. If I use only the heated back button it works. Bad heated seat module???? Any help, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I had a heck of a time getting the grease gun fitting on the the top of one, but there is no way in hell to get it on the other.
