guys, i need a little help, as usual. replaced my fuel pump but in the process broke 2 quick connects. these are the one that goes to the evap cannister and to the big line out of the fuel pump. i'm having no success in finding these 2 parts. These are not the 3/8 and 5/16 connectors. they look more like 1/2" connectors. even the dealerships don 't have it. they recommended i purchase the entire tubing network (over $200.00) which is ridculous. i've include some pics . the black fitting slides into the white fitting and then the assembly fits over the tubes on the fuel pump and the the evap cannister. the black pieces have nbrs on them . one has a "4", the other "5" even though they look to be the same size

please help me out... I am buying one very soon and am planning on building a subwoofer box.

Anyhow, I need the "exact" dimensions on an ESV's cargo area behind the 3rd row seats. I need mostly the depth and height up to the back of the 3rd row1) seats and 2) headrests. I know the width is 49".

The depth should be the depth from the rearmost part of the seat to the hatch lid.

3rd row seat
_

There are after market wheels on the truck.

I have scrolled though the driver menus and have not come across the TPMS screens but wasnt sure if that was the simple answer that my truck does not support them or if they were bypassed.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give.

Hi,

So today I turned on the front a/c of my 2004 Escalade and everything was working great. Nice and cold as expected. I then turned on the rear a/c and it was blowing semi cold air. I looked down at my dash and then engine temperature gauge was fluctuating. It would bounce up and down. So I popped the hood and checked everything as far as leaks, overflow and everything looked good. The rad was just flushed last fall. I looked back and it was still bouncing. I turned off the rear a/c and it leveled out and stayed steady and normal.

So my question is: Does the rear a/c not blow as cold as the front? I am assuming not since the air has to travel to the rear.
And second what would cause the temperature gauge to bounce only when the rear a/c is on?

I told the dealership about it and they said bad instrument cluster. I find that hard to believe since it only happens with the rear a/c on.
Thanks

Hi Everyone. I seem to be having an issue when I go into overdrive and give the vehicle just slight gas to accelerate but not enough to kick down into 3rd gear there is a stutter that occurs. If the tranny gets enough gas to kick down to 3rd gear then there is no stutter. It only seems to occur in overdrive and whild giving it gas to get up slight incline and not downshift. Any pointers what I should be looking for? I dont seem to have issues at any other time and I think only at lower speeds in overdrive as I have not noticed a problem on the freeway at 65 plus MPH. Seems when the truck goes into just slight load while in overdrive is the only time I see this happening. Thanks for any guidance as to what may be a starting point here.

When I press the butt heater button, I hear a click from under the steering wheel on the left side and the level lights quickly light then turn off. Only once has this heater stayed on and worked correctly. The lumbar heater on the same seat works fine. Any thoughts on what it could be?

Undercoating On The Vehicle Frame From The Factory?

I was underneath the vehicle today to swap out the spare tire with a new factory chrome wheel and proper size tire (why did GM put a 16" spare underneath?), when I noticed what appears to be undercoating that was peeling away from the frame in certain spots and rust starting to form. I'm sure it's not just paint as it's kinda squishy/soft to the touch. The 05 I own was purchased early this year and spent it's first 3 years of life in NY, so it is a genuine east coast car.

I'm relatively new to the east coast, having spent most of my life in the southwest where we don't get snow or salt on the roads so I'm not used to seeing the rust underneath.

I ended up getting a can of spray on undercoat and taking a wire brush to the rust spots before spraying them to cover the metal back up before I put the spare back up. I also went around the front and sides and did the same to the other rusty spots I see forming on the frame.

Since it's a soft rubbery coating, I'm contemplating hitting all the suspension bolts with this stuff as well. I bought a used Trailblazer after moving here in 06 and last year when I went to change out the shocks it was a nightmare. I ended up cutting off the shock post on one side because the bolt had rusted almost to the point of disintigration. I'm thinking hitting the suspension bolts of the other vehicles might be a good idea since this stuff seems soft enough that the bolts would just take off the coating someday when I do need to do some suspension work.

Anyway, I guess my question is did the factory put an undercoating on the frame? I don't think it was done aftermarket as the body (floorpan, etc) doesn't have a trace of it anywhere from spraying, only the steel frame.

I came across some rain guards or visors for the outside mirrors. They are a generic application but seem like they might be a good idea as I'm a bit disappointed by my mirrors in the rain. The mirror glass on these trucks seem to sit flush with the mirror housing and mine are sometimes unusable in the rain as they get completely covered in road spray and things like dirt, pollen, and leaves. All my other vehicles have had the mirrors recessed in a little bit, just enough it seems that my mirrors stayed much cleaner even in bad weather.

Anyone tried these things? They stick out a couple of inches, straight back from the top of the mirror housing.

Here is an example that I found on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CLEAR-SIDE-M...25fa51&vxp=mtr

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share an experience i just had with my 04 EXT. I purchased it about 6 weeks ago straight from the Auction and pretty much felt i got a killer deal. Paid less than $11K and it had just under 95K miles fully loaded. When i purchased it i figured that it would be a good idea to look in to an aftermarket warrantee. My buddy who owns the used car dealership said to look in to other compnaies than the one he offers as he's not really happy with them and is himself looking in to offering a new company.

After some research i settled on the After Market Warrantee from Carchex. (www.carchex.com) I asked around to a few friends who own repair shops and a few service managers at dealerships i deal with and everyone had great things to say about them. I ended up getting the deluxe plan that covered pretty much anything that could go wrong on the truck....from theengine and treansmission rebuild or replacement to suspension and fuel system.... there is a whole list of items... it even covers the electronics including the nav system.

Long story short.. i was driving the other day and the traction control started to trigger at random times and the ABS lights would come on... After that i noticed that the "SERVICE STABILITY SYSTEM" message would come on. Also the ABS would trigger at random times while breaking.

I took the truck in to the local Caddy dealer and presented the Carchex warrantee info and later that day the service manager called me to tell me that BOTH from hub assemblies needed to be replaced (bad sensors) as well as the Ride control compressor. They spoke to Carchex and got the repair approved and my truck will be ready Saturday and i would have to pay my $100 deductible. On top of that.. i rented a car as a loander while my tuck is in the shop, Carchex will cover up to $150 in rental fees while my truck in in the shop for a covered repair! so i'll be out of pocket $100 on the repair!

I'm pretty stoaked about the warrantee and my truck. As we all know, our trucks are not cheap to repair, I feel much better knowing that i have a warrantee behind me.

I have to admit that i was a little worried that i would have a problem with the warantee but i feel much better now. the people at carchex were very helpful.

anyway, just wanted to share!

Hi all.

Just wondering how much better the Lux amp is compared to the premium amp as far as sound quality is concerned?

I'm thinking of switching out my factory, joystick nav unit in my 04 escalade for a 05 or 06 touchscreen unit.

Just wondering if it's worth the trouble and money to get a lux amp and touchscreen or just leave the premium (non lux) amp and get a premium (non lux) touchscreen?

Thoughts, ideas?

Thanks

So I've always wanted a big brake Brembo kit but their thousands of dollars so why not settle for the Brembo look? I ordered these on Ebay not wanting to deal with painting my calipers but Im going to end up painting them anyways so it'll look better, cleaner and it'll make the caliper look bigger. I just ordered Cross Drilled rotors that I'll be putting on this week and I think it'll look A LOT better with those. Overall I think its a better look than just painting them and they actually look real. Let me know what you guys think!

So I finally put my built transmission back in THE BEAST last week and chained down the front end (being AWD I was just blowing the front wheels off) in preparation for her maiden voyage down the 1/4 mile.

Last time at the 1/8 mile track THE BEAST went 8.35 @ 84.5 mph (Video: My 6,200 lb Escalade running low 8s. - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums - Camaro5.com). On the next run she broke the forward sprag in the trans.

I wasn't too interested in running a new fastest time in Ginger so I didn't really prep her for the track. All I did was throw the track wheels on, she had almost a full tank and all kinds of junk in the trunk. The DA was horrible and Ginger couldn't hook on the couple of runs she did, but I really only took her so I could line her up next to THE BEAST!

I am always on different forums and I have not any other fast Escalade ESVs. I have only seen ONE faster Escalade at 11.9 @117 but that was a new body style 2007 regular short twin turbo Escalade. I guess no one races the really long ESVs.

They also had the scales working. Ginger tipped the scales at 4,250 lbs and THE BEAST was a hefty 6,015 lbs.

Here is a few videos and pics. On the first video cut to the 13 minute mark to see the race.

So I've noticed in the past few weeks that it's taking a little more cranking to get my 'lade started in the mornings. Usually it was a .5 second crank and she'd fire right up.
Recently I've either had to:

A. Crank .5 seconds, release. Crank again, fires up.
OR
B. Continue cranking for about 1 second and she starts.

After the first start she fires right up no problem. This occurs only after sitting overnight or all day at work.

Did some digging this morning, I've read everything from starter, to starter relay to fuel pressure regulator as the cause. My plugs and wires were done less then 15,000 miles ago, fuel filter has been replaced, throttle body has been cleaned, fuel line has been serviced. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I bought a wheel and tire package last year offline no place would mount them for me so i had my mechanic do it. I live in NE so when it came to take them off for the winter or the winter we were suppose to get i went to town fair tire because i bought a package from them. So I had them run them through the balance machine and one of the guys told me that two of my tires had broken belts from the way my mechanic mounted them. Now my question is is that something could happen and is the tire junk. Can a balancing machine tell me if there is a broken belt in a tire. If they actually are broken are they junk or can i still run them because i mean these tires were not even on my truck for 6 months. So if someone knew anything about this question and could answer it that would be great once again Thank you for your time

Ok so it goes like this...

I had a sway bar connector break the other day on the Escalade... not a big deal. So I bought the parts to replace both of them even though only one was broken. Its best to replace these in a set... as the other is bound to be on it way out.
So I purchased the parts for $35 bucks (rockauto.com great place to get parts) the parts I purchased are factory GM ACDelco parts. I called the dealer this afternoon just to see what the Cadillac dealer here in Norwood, MA, would charge me to replace them. I spoke to the service counter guy... the quote... $196 bucks... FOR ONLY ONE!!!! Are you freaking kidding me! I even called my guy at the Firestone Tire shop where I get my tires... It was 1 hour labor ($59) and the parts ($50) So that's $109+tax for BOTH!
My cost if I do the work myself, $35 bucks. An car dealers wonder why no one comes to them for service. Because their Morons! Only an idiot would pay $196 bucksfor them to replace one. I would gladly pay Firestone the $120 bucks to fix them, just so I dont have to deal with it... but I'm not spending $492 simply because it says Cadillac on the sign out front. Where not rebuilding an engine here its 2 bolts... pretty simply. I can fix this in the driveway in under an hour myself.

So to the customer service rep that is surely going to read this.... maybe pass along to someone that matters... you know those guys that get paid a retarded amount of money to decisions like let change 4x the amount for a job that will only cost us $75 bucks.... yeah tell those guys I can see why they needed a bail out from the tax payers. Because no one in there right mind would pay that. NO ONE! You'd have to be a freaking MORON to pay that.

Rant over.

So i've been wanting a new intake kit on my 03 Escalade and from what I understand its just piping and an air filter. My question is, what are the differences in the $400 kits and the $50 kits on ebay? Is it just the air filter? I found a kit on ebay thats $50 and Im wondering if its worth it or what are the reasons I shouldnt get it. Also, I know theres sensors and plugs on the stock intake, do those get plugged into the new one? Beause it doesnt look like theres any spots for sensors on this aftermaket one. Heres a pic of the EBAY one. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Thanks to all on the board who pointed me in the right direction! I purchased an '06 last yr with the dreaded "Service Ride Control" message. I shortly discovered that Compressor was shot due to the air shocks having boots that rotted out and could not hold pressure. Dealer wanted $3400 to replace all parts. YIKES!

Thanks to the board, I got a new Air Ride Compressor and Rear shocks off of Amazon ($600 total from Arnott) and was able to replace all parts in about 4 hrs (took longer than it should have because I couldnt get the old Dryer assembly apart:mad: ..I dont have a vice or huge channel locks as it recommends). My buddy held the bottom part of it and I twisted the top half as hard as I could and it finally came apart. The shocks werent that difficult to replace at all.

Im pretty handy around the house but rarely work on my own car...I was a little nervous about cutting off the OEM connectors and splicing in the new wires. I also didnt really know where to place the new Shock sensors so I mounted them on the frame behind each rear tire??? (i got some water proof tape and cleaned up/tied off the wires using pull ties and plastic wire conduit)

I was EXTREMELY pleased to start my Escalade, then hear the compressor come on for 5-6 seconds and shut off! Finally... NO MORE SERVICE RIDE WARNING! :bouncy:

I've had a 2004 and always felt I needed an unusual amount of pressure on the brake pedal to get the truck to stop. I now have a 2005 and it felt the same. I upgraded the front brakes to SSBC larger rotors and four piston calibers and replaced the rear rotors and pads. It improved very little. It almost feels as if the vehicle needs a better brake booster or something. Anyone else share my opinion of the brakes or did I just happen to get to Lades with bad brake systems.

Im tinting the tail lights this weekend and probably getting a mesh grill. I have 30,000 K HID up top and 3000K Fogs. I also made custom emblems and custom "ESCALADE" CD changer plaque. I also want to lower it but I don't know a lot about the air ride suspension and how to lower it the RIGHT way so I keep the nice ride quality. Please comment.
