I know the engine is considerably louder then my 530i, but I thought it might just be the design. Car runs fine, gas mileage is about 20 highway. Thanks.

Local independent tire shop did an excellent job servicing me on this one I got to say. 4 tires (235/65/17 XL) put on, mounted and balanced, no problems with the TPMS. for $600. on my existing rims. SRX 2008 AWD, with 10,000 miles. I will probably put about 4,500-5,500 on these tires before the end of winter and switch back. The Goodyea RS-A's still look to be in good shape and I cannot see getting less than 35,000 miles out of them. The General are a great looking tire and are actually made in germany, they are the exact copy of the Gislaved Nordfrost 3's which is ver, very well regarded tire. car looks good, rides solid, and I will not be stopped this winter by pretty much anything. I rode in the HWY and I got to say they are VERY quiet, maybe a touch louder than the RSA all seasons, but very quiet. Sweet...if anyone is in the MA area and near arlington, MA, hit up arlington tire.

Have a 2006 SRX v-6 AWD with 49K on it. Saturday night, driving home, when I started the SRX, all of a sudden the display read the following:
SERVICE STEERING SYSTEM; SERVICE STABILITY SYSTEM; SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST.

Along with these, the Traction Control; ABS; and Brake light were lit on the dash. Also, the brakes lights on the rear including the high level brake light on the tailgate were lit and wouldn't go off. And the cruise control quit working. Obviously something is up with the steering as it seems 'heavy' at low speed as if only having about 1/2 power assist.

Drove it yesterday. Upon first run it was normal- none of the above. Then later in the day, and all day today, I am getting all of those message every time I drive it.

I am sure this is some kind of computer module issue. Anyone else have this happen on their fist gen SRX?

Just finished an install on a 2004 SRX. Very difficult access to the Onstar unit. It is behind the SUB ( Bose system) on the passenger rear quarter. Lots of panel removal and awkward nut removals. Start with the retainer for the cargo net. Remove the small panel covering the Sub to reach up into the rear panel and hold the screw as you loosen the cargo nut from the panel. Remove the D pillar cover. Carefully remove the C pillar cover(airbag area) and let it hang loose from the internal wire pull at the top of the panel. Pull the main rear quarter panel away from it's location from the rear forward . You should now be able to remove the 3 nuts holding the sub in place by pulling the panel away from the side. You will need a long ratchet set to reach these nuts. When Sub is loose remove by pulling up and through the rear opening you create by pulling the rear panel away to the inside of car, undo the wire connector for the Sub. Onstar unit is now visible. You must remove the TWO nuts holding the unit in place. Then pull from top of Onstar unit in a downward motion and unit will tilt down. You should now be able to see the release tabs for the two WHITE connectors. Depress the tabs and pull the connectors away from the Onstar unit. Take the two connectors UP behind the Onstar unit to the eventual mount position of the Bluetooth unit. Reinstall the Onstar unit with the two white connectors going UP from the top of the Onstar unit. Clip the two white connectors into the new bluetooth unit. Place just above the Onstar unit with double sided tape/carpet tape or similar. CHECK THAT UNIT WORKS. TURN ON CAR AND PAIR PHONE ETC>. Reinstall Sub. Replace all panels. Place all panels back in sequence. All panels are removed by carefully pulling at mount locations and panel clips will release. Place back into position with a sharp slap motion once panel is in proper location.:cool2:

SO we purchased the 2005 N*AWD Feb 09 and it stayed in the garage (except for the odd drive to ensure it didn't forget what it was supposed to do) it had 55K miles and started it;s daily use 3 months later. Had an issue in july with the torque converter and it was replaced. However there was issues in getting one so we ended up driving the truck for about 1800 miles on the bad converter. when they changed it Aug 7, 2009 we had them service the transmission since the TC work was being done . So last Saturday we were out for a shopping trip (short drive maybe 50 miles one way) and on the way home we had some stop and go driving and had the transmission hot idle engine come over the DIC, so we let it cool off and continued. Thought nothing off it just odd. So today we did the same trip today and guess what, same stop and go driving same DIC warning on the tranny temp.:hmm: No sport shifting just normal slow down rearly stop then speed up driving due to volume on the road.
Do you think that the 1800 miles we put on it with the bad torque converter(TC) is coming back to haunt us?
We were instructed that the BAD TC would not affect the health of the transmission. So we do have GMPP and pretty sure the repair will be covered but we purchased this unit because one of the things we were told was we would get easily 120K miles out of this vehicle. I don't doubt that but I guess we should have asked at what cost???
Are we being to critical thinking that replacing a TC and 3 months later looking at a transmission is to much? We like the truck but common what will be next.

Well it goes in to the dealer probably Tuesday for them to look at it and do the diagnostics. My diagnostics is sloppy shifting, vibration at about 1950 rpm, sport shifting not working correctly, the downshift when in drive is abrupt at times , shift from 2 to 3 is somewhat harsh not enough for whiplash. Please give me your insights.:helpless:

I'm headed to the Cadillac of Crossovers drive event this weekend to see how the 2010 SRX matches up against the BMW X5, MB GLK, and Lexus RX. It spurred me to write a bit about why I like the original SRX so much. It's a quandry - I like the 04-09 because of qualities that the 2010 doesn't really have, but I see why Caddy did what they did with the 2010 and think it will sell better because of the changes.

If you care to take a look, here's the link http://eastbounddown.com/2009/11/com...-mercedes-glk/

I've also got links to most all the Car and Driver articles on the 04-09 SRX from their first drive of a prototype to the comparo where an 07 Northstar SRX comes in 2nd, in between an all new 07 X5 and 07 MDX.

Hi, I have a 2005 SRX with the Bose Stereo and I was wondering whether anyone knows whether if you customize the Base, Equilizer, etc. while your on the preset EQ settings, does it change them permenantly, or do they reset as soon as you go through again and and select the same one again. The reason why I'm asking is because in my opinion the system doesn't sound as good as it used to, and I'm thinking it was from people playing around with it.

If I did infact change the original settings, is there anyway to reset them?

Thanks.

So here is an odd one...

So we are alomost out of warranty and will likely have this car for another 3-4 years. I shopped GMPP but the prices are really high. My dealership alluded me to the fact that Chrysler Service plans will quote and cover other products. I looked into it and their plan is pretty superior.

They call it maximum car and they basically say, if its mechanical, its 100% full coverage. the plan looks like a bumper to bumper plan with 1st day rental coverage (no diagnostic wait bs like GM), UNLIMITED mileage and so on. I'm super intriged. My quote for 4 years with a 200 ded is 1985. with 100 ded is 2635.

Has anyone hds experience with Chrysler (on the service plan). My biggest worry is what if Chrysler goes sinanora the way of the classics such as AMC, Packard and the like... They say the plan is reinsured but... I also confirmed that I could have it repaired at my dealership

Any thoughts... i'm thinking about taking the risk.. no one can come close to the price or the coverage.

I requested a quote on a 100K service for my '04 Cadillac SRX while it is getting a new transmission put in. He stated the only things required are a transmission service (which I won't need) and spark plugs. He stated the plugs cost $100 and the labor is $300 ($90 x 3.5 hours) because they have to remove something and it takes a long time. Does that seem high or is that about right? Is there anything else that is supposed to be done on a 100K service?

Thanks in advance.

The DIC is still recognizing the TPM. The new rims and tires do not have monitors in them! Any thoughts? I've been miles from home and still giving me readings , Any thoughts?:hmm:

The tires are in the garage where we park the car but I would think once I'm out of the driveway they would loose contact, and we would get the light on, on the dash.
