Due to large amounts of spam, you must meet certain requirements before you can use our Private Messaging system. You must either be a member for a specific amount of time, have a specific amount of messages posted, or a combination of both.
You may, however, send Private Messages to our staff...

Well I got home from work and checked to see what helpful information may have been posted to the question I asked this morning. To my surprise all I saw were some snarky replies and then my previous thread was promptly closed.

I'm seriously trying to get an answer so could I please get one this time?

To set the record straight...

Drzloski (or similar name) is the one who suggested that perhaps becoming a supporting member was the fast track to respectability. It was never my intention to imply that PM rights were some sort of bush league shake down.

As The Tony Show pointed out (and I was already aware) the message quoted above is pretty clear about private messages. A temporary restriction is in place for new members. In fact it's crystal clear and I don't have a problem with that. The message further states that the components of this temporary restriction are two-fold (potentially three-fold). There is a specific time criteria, a specific number of posts criteria, or possibly a combination of both. Fair enough.

My question was and remains.... what are these specifics?

I can't do anything about time except count down the days. However regarding the post count I can easily become more active in the community. At this point however I'm still in learning mode and don't consider myself knowledgeable enough to contribute much that would be of any real value. Hence my low post count. I don't really feel like posting "Dude, those are some awesome rims" or "Sweet clear fogs Bro. How'd you do it?" type postings as I feel they do little to further the discussion. Please!

Ok, off my soapbox.

Another member saw that my location was Kansas City and VM'd me to find out where in the KC metro I lived. I am not initiating contact with anyone, not trying to solicit anyone, sell anything, badger anyone, etc.

I was just trying to reply to a fellow V owner in my area who PM'd me and also complete the purchase of some motor dress-up parts from another fellow member.

To set everyones mind at ease I'm not some turnstile jumping, line cutting, system bucker. I am content to bide my time and allow the process to run its course. However I'm kind of at a disadvantage not knowing what that course is. On the other hand, if a $5 donation to the Sal coffee fund is really all it takes to bypass all the formality then I may just do that instead.

Everyone on here was new at one time and I'm just trying to find out how long it took until you all were permitted to PM each other. I have no alterior motives.

I've been told that I'm a bit of a wise apple at times so I apologize if my comments about generating random postings were misunderstood as serious. Obviously I've got better things to do with my time than write 10 posts then check to see if I can PM. Nope. Do 10 more posts then try to PM again. Nope. And so on until that magic number was reached.

Come on, let's get real. I'm trying to find out how to become a more active participant on the forums not get booted from them. Sheesh.

Hopefully the powers that be will deem me harmless enough and allow me to fully interact with my fellow V owners in a timely manner. Until then I wait quietly in PM purgatory.

Respectfully submitted,
Mike from KC

One of our Moderators, The Tony Show, is trying to repair this for me but.....

Has anyone experienced a broken link to a picture album ??? This showed up two days ago and is sort of frustrating; click on either my login header picture album icon or the album title/link in my profile and you're sent to a CF user from 2003 who doesn't exist, no pictures. Click on the Photo Albums tab in the blue bar, the album lists open, and my album "Various car and boat pics" appears as #491 and it opens OK.

I can't repair the broken link in my profile. Any other ideas besides Tony's work ???
