Getting this installed in my truck in a week or so.

Do they make a mounting bracket for the Tracvision A7? I noticed the factory brackets do not fit on the 2007 EXT Luggage Racks(or maybe they do if you turn it the other way).

However, I've seen them mounted on a 2007+ EXT before...just not sure if they mounted them to the luggage racks or to the top of the truck roof.

If someone could maybe clear this up for me, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

So my wife bumped an audi about a month ago at about 8mph but did enough damage to warrant getting a new bumper cover and grille. Since I saw a Platinum ESV in ATL a couple of months ago I wanted to find a way to get er done since its covered minus co-pay. 3 out of 4 ATL Caddy dealers said, sorry, can't do it,etc... Hunglowe convinced me I can. After waiting a month for the upper grille to get in stock I had it done and picked it up last night. Attached are some pics. I need to go back to gerber and get the lower defuser (rubber like spoiler) on the bottom put on this wednesday. I highly recommend doing it if you get in a rear-end situation and need a new bumper anyway and don't mind losing your tow hooks which I don't. Otherwide it will run you around 3,500.00-4,000. I paid my co-pay of 500. :)

I have a 08 Lade and park it in the garage at night. After leaving my house around 7am my headlights stay on and the light on the dash/nav stay dim. It is light out and it is hard to see the nav screen. Why do the lights stay on? Is there a setting I can change in order to make the lights go off. I think the lights stay on because the sun is low on the horizon and the sensor is in and out of the shade. Any ideas??

Can anybody point out a good one?

Hello,

I am currently trying to trade my Range Rover Sport HSE with 57K miles for an Escalade, or ESV. I want nav and 22"'s and black interior no questions, and a black exterior if I can find it.

I found one that is about 500 miles away from me with 90K miles that they will trade straight across. According to carfax, the truck was a corporate fleet vehicle.

What should I be aware of? Looks like it has had the oil changes, but nothing mentioned about mileage services in car fax other than one last year.

My car books out anywhere from 27K NADA to 34K KBB. I have a 3rd kid now and need the bigger vehicle. I sold my 2007 Denali for this RRS, and now I want the real deal Escalade.

Please let me know your thoughts. I am in Colorado and it seems that 60K miles and up is still around 34K.

Also- what is your mileage and do you have any troubles at previous mileage?

Let me know if any of you know someone willing to trade!

Hello all!
Currently I'm driving a 2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV [Black on Black, of course! :D ] and was looking into customizing it. Currently my car is STOCK. It's fully loaded, with those nifty power steps, 22'' rims and such. I wanted to customize it. Many things I wanted to do to the truck conist of the following : Bigger Rims, Dark Tint, Tracvision, Smoke the Tail lights, Upgraded Entertainment System, etc. I have lots of questions, though. I'm not really working with a price limit or anything, so I'M OPEN TO ANY SUGGESTIONS! :D Rims. What would the biggest size Rim I could put on my baby without sacrifcing the ride quality? I'm looking into getting 24's or 26's? How do you think it will look on the escalade esv? Darker Tint is a must have! Tracvision. Does anyone on this forum have tracvision installed on their cars? How much is it monthly, and how good is the quality of the Satellite reception on it? Upgraded Entertainment System. Looking into doing the Vizualogic on all four of my Headrests.. Have any of you had a bad experience with Vizualogic? Is there a better brand?
Thanks so much!
I look forward to hearing your feedback! :halo:

Hello all, I'm new to this forum. :canttalk: I joined because I needed some other people's opinion on my problems. They aren't major, but they are certainly annoying. First one. On my ESV, we rarely use the glass window that pop's up, whatever that may be called. I use around...once a month? The black poles that are attached to the window's on both sides that go up and down when you open/close the window [ SORRY, DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE CALLED  ] detach from my car, and just hang there most of the time I open it. I usually don't watch for them when I open the window, so when I close it, it pops off, and when I go to close the window, the pole slams into the window. It happens most EVERY time I open my back window. It's an easy fix, I can just pop it back into where it's supposed to be, but still, it scares me! I'm afraid the window will break one of these days. Should I just take the car into the dealer? It only happens on the LEFT side, not the right. My second issue is the Tire Pressue Monitor. So about a week ago, I went on a roadtrip from my house in San Diego to Portland, maintaining a speed of 85-95 MPH [ ON HIGHWAYS ] and I could smell a STRONG smell of burning rubber. There wasn't much traffic when it occured, so I wasn't laying on my brakes or anything. Soon after, the screen in the SPEEDOMETER would read "Service Tire Presure Monitor". I went and looked at the PSI's on each tired, on the rear right tire would have to lines like this "--" on the screen. I pulled over, and the tire was SUPER hot. Unlike any of the others. :suspect: It happened 10 times each way. Could this be due to my speed? It never happened before... It became really annoying... Thanks for Your help!!! :halo:

So a couple of days back I put in just a little too much engine oil.... about a 1/2 an inch beyond the limit.

I have to say my engine definitely felt a little clogged up, drove it only a few miles, less than 15, and today got the excess oil removed. Truck feels slimmer. So, how bad is it really driving long range with excess oil on board? Manual says, too much oil may damage your engine. :suspect:

I am looking to buy a 07-09 Escalade. I'm ok with RWD and non-platinum. However, I don't want to make the mistake of buying a model/year with major issues or that had major changes/upgrades the next year. Therefore, I need advise with the following issues;

What year has the least recalls/problems?
What major features are only available on particular model years?
What are the recommended "gotta haves"?
What grade of gas is recommended by GM regular / premium?
If regular, why use premium?
Actual gas mileage observations?
What should I expect to pay for a particular year?
Extended warranty costs?

I know this is a small laundry list but I feel that you guys are owners and can answer some, most, or all of these questions from a real-world perspective.
Thanks in advance for you responses

I am selling a set of 26" Gianelle Steep 6 wheels. I am giving the truck to my wife and don't trust her with 26's. I actually have 8 of these wheels. Four are in good condition with 2 month old Nitto NT420's, so they are practically new. These Nitto tires are much better than Kumho's which I have run on all of my other wheels in the past. The other four, 2 have scratches on the lips, and the other two have chrome peeling around the lug holes. If you know someone that can fix them you could have a full set spare. Two of these have Kumho tires on them with about 50% tread. Five of the 8 wheels have the tires pressure sensors in them already. If someone has a set of factory's they want to exchange for these let me know and we can work something out. I am looking for brand new factory 22's or really close to new. Let me know, my number is 410-916-5165 and my name is Jim.

Hi there,

I would like to know the standard tires that come on the 2009/2010 Escalade.

I specifically need to know if they are All Weather Tires or just standard tires.

As I am sure most of you on here know the website says the standard tyres on the AWD model are "With P265/65R18 blackwall touring tires."

So are these All Weather Tires or just standard

Reason I ask is that I am renting one of these out of Los Angeles to drive around the California ski areas and Hertz cannot answer my question. :bigroll:

Thanks :)

What happens is that I can turn on the cruise but it won't activate. It used to be intermittent, and then I would have to tap the brake before setting it and it would work. Then nothing at all.

I'm considering trading in my 08 ESV for a 2010 ESV Platinum (had a 2005 ESV Platinum before the 08, liked it better), and I'm trying to get a straight answer on the Magnetic Ride Control system. I want to replace to factory installed 22" wheels with a wheel and tire combination that gives me better traction in the snow, probably a set of nice 20s with a grippier tire. I may keep 2 sets of wheels and only use the 20s in the winter, and keep the 22s on the rest of the time. The Caddy dealer can't give me an answer in writing that says it is OK to replace the factory installed 22s with 20s, and that it won't alter the performance of the Magnetic Ride Control or any other system. I just want to make sure I don't have any safety, warranty, or performance issues with the swap. Any guidance on how to get an official answer out of Cadiallac? Anyone else swapped out the factory 22s on a vehicle with MRC?

I want to tap off them and run another jack to the front so that I don't have a bunch of wires running around & have the RCA plugs sticking out where the grandkids can get tangled up.
Hopefully this will suffice until one of the brilliant engineers on the forum comes up with a way to add whatever hardware / software is necessary to retrofit the USB connector from the 10's to an 09.

Just waxed my new Raven Black '09 Escalade with the Turtle Wax Black Box product. The results are impressive. There were a few fine scratches in several places on the body, bumper and rear view mirror housing, and the Black Box product removed them pretty well.

The Black Box contains three different products: a black pigmented pre-cleaner and conditioner to remove fine scratches, swirl marks and surface contaminants. This is followed by a black pigmented Spray Detailer. Finally the wax is a Black Carnauba Wax.

Pretty good for only $19.99 at my local Auto Zone.

Hello,

I am about to get a used 07 Escalade and was wondering what everyone on here has put in their Escalades as far as accessories/ toys go.

I have a few things that will be mandatory for me such as the second battery and probably a flip down monitor but I want to hear what you guys have put in yours, pictures would be awesome.

Thanks to everybody on this forum, I have been reading this forum for a long time now and what I have learned from everyone has been invaluable.

Also while I am thinking about it, has anybody here had any experience with the Autopage brand of remote car starters? The reason I ask is they have one that can be controlled via cell phone ( unlimited range ) and that sounds pretty good to me. I think their cell technology is call C3. I don't like the idea of a yearly payment but it is negligible so I would live with it.

Thanks again.

I have been a long time lurker on the forum but do not recall anybody asking this and i couldn't find it in the search.

Is there a way to convert the ignition to push button start? Basically what i am looking for is what quite a few new cars have, the proximity sensor for unlocking the doors and push button start. Is there an aftermarket way to do this?

Thanks for any help, even if it is just telling me i am stupid and showing me thousands of posts discussing this already.

Also while i am here, is there any reason to go for the 08 over the 07 aside from the lack of possible wind noise ( those posts i could find :) ).

Thanks again.

2007 Escalade with 74k miles, I was getting a check engine light and the code came out to P0121, which is Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). I brought it to a GM dealer today and they checked and said the TPS was fine and found the throttle body had excess carbon buildup and that was causing the TPS to put out the code. Since the TPS was fine, there was no powertrain warranty, so they wanted about $250 to clean the throttle valve and then "Relearn Idle".

I did not have them do it and brought it home and sprayed Gumout throttle body cleaner in it myself and reconnected everything. When started back up the idle in park is about 2,000 RPM so it looks like he was correct with the diagnosis anyway.

So my question, is there a way to do the idle relearn by myself or do I need to bring it back in to the dealer? He mentioned there was 2 different ways to do it, one was a scan tool and the other was punching some kind of info in the driver information center or something like that. I have been searching for hours and did not find anything specifically for the newer Escalades and there are tons of different DIY on other brands.

Oh I also tried disconnecting the battery and driving it for about 10 miles and that didn't fully work, but the idle does go down on it's own sometimes now but as soon as I press the gas pedal it goes back up to 2,000 RPM (in park)

I'm doing some research for my grandparents who are looking into getting another car. Right now they have a 09 SRX and are looking at getting the 2010 SRX. I went to the dealer and looked at the 2010, and it seems much smalled than the old model, after looking on edmunds I see it has alot less cargo room. The other thing that I do not like after driving the 2010 SRX is that it seems to have alot of blind spots and very poor rear visability, being older I think they will have trouble driving it.

The Escalade is a much nicer truck and I think they extra leg room in the front seats would be good for them. I just worry that it is too high off the ground. Edmunds show the escalade as only having .8 inched more ground clearence than the SRX, but it seems so much higer off the ground? Has anyone on here gone from an SRX to the Escalade, if so how do you like it? I traded in my 06 SRX for a 09 Sierra and I'm very happy with it.

How to Properly Detail Your Ride!

I don't know of any Thread on here that Teaches you how to Properly Detail you Ride or not but this Method will keep the Shine for 6-12 months. Depending on the Weather and How often you drive the Car or Truck :D with that you will still need to wash your ride to keep it clean of course lol.. <-- disclamer lol

Regular washing is important, but to keep your car looking good, you should detail and wax it regularly. Even if you've neglected your car's finish, making it look almost-new isn't really all that difficult.

What you will need:
What you'll need depends on the condition of your car's finish. If your car has been regularly washed and waxed, you will probably only need a few detailing products:

1. Microfiber towels (the more, the merrier!)
2. Black-trim treatment
3. Spray-on detailer
4. One-step polish/wax
5. Wax applicators or orbital polisher

If your car hasn't been waxed recently or has a neglected finish, you might need to call in the heavy artillery: :D

5. Clay bar
6. Mild polish or pre-wax cleaner
7. Wax

Step: 1. Wash the Car/Truck

This may seem pretty obvious, but I'll say it anyway: Wash and dry the car thoroughly before starting your detail work. Washing the car gets off the "easy" dirt so that the cleaning products you'll be using later on can take care of the hard stuff.

Step: 2. Treat Black Trim

Doorjambs tend to collect dirt, but they won't get cleaned during a normal wash. Before wiping down the doorjambs, spray them with a between-wash detail product such as Mothers Showtime Instant Detailer. Unpainted trim and weather seals are usually made of rubber, vinyl or some other type of plastic, and will get brittle, stained and oxidized over time. Mothers product called Back to Black on car's black trim is a good product. The Mothers staffers recommend wearing gloves when using Back to Black.

Step: 3: Claying the Car

Clay is used to remove deep ground-in dirt and stains without damaging the car's finish. This is especially important on newer cars which use clear-coat paint. Mothers sells a clay kit that includes a clay bar, detailing spray (which is used as a lubricating agent for the clay), and wax (to seal that nice clean surface). After claying the car, the surface should feel noticeably smoother.

More info about the Clay:
Claying is incredibly easy: Spray the area with detailer then slide the clay back and forth over the paint. The clay basically pulls up the dirt and shaves it off. Periodically flatten and fold the clay to expose a clean surface. There's one major caveat: Don't drop the clay! Dropping the clay renders it useless, as it will pick up dirt that can scratch the car. The detailer you'll be spraying on the car makes things slick, Consider spreading out a beach towel beneath the area you're working on.

Step: 4: Polish

Clay removes both dirt and wax, so you'll need to re-wax after claying. If your car's finish is in good shape, you can use a combined polish/wax product, but if the finish is in bad shape, a two-stage polish and wax process is better.

Polish smooths, clarifies, and cleans the surface of your car. Polishing will remove some small scratches, but it can also remove paint, so if you polish by hand, be careful to use light pressure. Using power tools to polish a car used to require finely-honed skill to avoid paint damage, but today there are electric orbital polishers that make the job easy and virtually foolproof. Mothers sells a kit called the Wax Attack, which includes the orbital polisher plus bottles of wax and polish. A less expensive alternative is Mothers Powerball 4 Paint, which attaches to a cordless drill.

Step: 5: WAX

Wax doesn't just make your car look nice -- it provides a coat that protects the paint underneath. Though many people swear by carnauba wax, which is made from the leaves of the Brazilian-grown carnauba palm, modern synthetic waxes work just as well and are more gentle on the elbows -- they require less effort to remove than carnauba wax. Also, synthetic wax can be used in direct sunlight if need be, which carnauba wax can't -- though waxing in the shade is always preferable.

Wax can be applied by hand, but an electric orbital polisher/waxer can save a lot of time and effort, and is a sensible investment for large cars and trucks. Apply the wax directly to the applicator, not the car, and work on one small area at a time. Be careful not to get wax on black plastic trim; it will stain. Allow it to dry. When the wax looks hazy, run a finger through it. If it breaks apart ahead of your finger, it's ready to come off. Buff the wax off gently with a microfiber or cotton towel. If using a power polisher, be sure to use a new pad.

Step: 6: Wax Clean-up and Maintenance[/b]

You're almost done! Use a microfiber towel or a detail brush to clean out any wax that may have accumulated around trim pieces, emblems and badges.

Once that's done, give yourself a pat on the back! Your car is not only clean, but you've applied a protective barrier that will protect your car's finish.

You should continue to wash your car regularly as weather permits; re-wax in six to twelve months or when water no longer beads on the surface of the paint. For between-wash touch-ups, a detailing spray like Mothers Showtime will give your car that just-waxed look.

I recently purchased a new EXT and am having problems figuring out how to install the factory front license plate frame that came with the truck. It came with the color matched frame as well as some rivots for mounting. I see 2 small indentions in the front bumper to help line things up but i guess i just havent used rivots very often. Any help on how to mount the frame using these rivots would be greatly appreciated. I could just take it to the dealer and have them put it on but i'd rather just handle it myself.

6000K 35w H10 HID kit for reference.

I am looking to get something smaller and more fuel efficient. I'd love to keep it, but it's not feasible. Thanks a lot

Well, apparently after 3 years of ownership it finally happened to me. The infamous attempt to gain access into my ESV has happened!!!
Basically driver side exterior door handle was pryed 1/2 inch by flathead screwdriver. I can see the lock cylinder exposed along with the jimmyjammer plate that I put in 3 years back. Can anyone with similar experience chime in on what needs to be replaced? taking it to the dealer for repair so would like to know how much I'm looking to spend? Also, should I go through my insurance for such fix or is this just something minor?

thanks
