Hello, I am considering the purchase of an 07 STS-V with 19,000 miles. The car was just traded on a Lexus at my local Lexus dealer. That dealer has allowed me to take the STS-V home for the weekend so it is sitting in my garage as I type this. It is silver with beige leather interior and appears to be in great shape. It has the Pirelli OEM tires which also appear to be nearly new.

When driving at normal speeds over uneven roads, bumpy back roads or highway joints the ride is smooth and the car stays planted but the entire car seems to feel like it is shifting in a side-to-side motion on the suspension. Not up and down but side to side. Changing the suspension setting from normal to sport to competition did help a little. My wife also felt it and she is generally clueless about cars. I will admit I have been driving much smaller cars so I have not had a large sedan in a while.

My question is whether this sounds normal or abnormal for this suspension to handle this way. I think the car is still under warranty if it needs repair but that’s not really how I want to buy a car. I've also read some negative comments about the Pirelli tires – perhaps they are the reason, and I did notice the display says they are all only inflated to 27 psi and the door jamb says they should be 30/32.

Otherwise the car is truly beautiful and everything works as it should and I believe I can get this for a fair price. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Craig (Baltimore, Md.)

I am interested in buying a ’08 or ’09 STS-V with low mileage. I’m looking at an '08 because the HUD is important to me. Other things I like about the vehicle are 1) it’s a caddy; 2) Northstar V8 (supercharged of course); 3) it’s a very rare.

Quality STS-V information is hard to find on the internet I guess because this car is so rare. So if you actual owners could help me with a few questions I’d appreciate it:

1. Does the ’08 or ’09 have a backup camera?
2. Does ’08 or ‘09 have voice recognition?
3. How reliable is the vehicle? Any problem areas I should be aware of? Should I buy an extended warranty?
4. Besides the HUD, what are the major differences between the ’07 and ’08?
5. What’s the best way to locate a used STS-V? I found several on Autotrader but is there a better source? I see some are advertised on this site. Does my local Caddy dealer have a way of locating used cars? I live in Dallas but I know I’ll probably have to get it shipped to me from out of state.

I appreciate any help you can offer!

When its cool outside and on a cool start up i hear a rattle coming from under the console area (i think). Only does it in the lower gears and heavy acceleration makes it rattle more. Sounds like a heat shield, but i took it to the dealership and they said they were all tight, and they did tighten them again- but its still doing it. After the car has warmed up it goes away. I have Corsa mufflers, but like i said, it sounds like its coming from right under the console. Anyone else have this issue and figure it out?

This was good...the service writer called me back after they worked on my 'V, but it seemed too soon. I had asked them to fix window-not-going-up voice problem, tranny hitting rev-limiter in drive, missing plastic retainers holding up front splashguard (behind air dam) and sticky lumbar support switch. Writer tells me when I get there that, "The voice recognition was set to female, you have to set it to a male voice so it will work." I had to keep from laughing. They "couldn't reproduce" tranny problem (prolly didn't try very hard), the lumbar switch is on order and "he forgot to replace the retainers for the splashguard". So to sum up, they did NOTHING to the car. My first trip to this dealership with this car. Years ago I brought my Olds Aurora there for service (under warranty). They didn't believe an Olds would have a 4yr 50k warranty (Auroras did) so they were going to charge me. I finally got them convinced, but they made me pay up front. Then they sent me a check for $398 to cover it. The next week they sent me another check for $398, which I dutifully returned to them. The following week they sent ANOTHER check for $398. Again, I returned it. Makes you wonder how they survive.
Anyway, I think I have them on the "needs to be a male voice" thing. I studied German in high school and I was messing around with the german voice recognition today. Naturally the window behaves the same in any language. I hate being "told it's raining" by these guys if you know what I mean. Does anyone have any good experience with any caddy dealers in the NY area about 80 miles north of NYC??? I'd love to find a good service dept.

Had two messages pop up on the dash yesterday, that I have not seen before. Did a search here on the board with no results.

"Service Stability system" is message 1, followed by "Service Brake assist" as message 2. This is accompanied with two lights that
won't go out. The ABS yellow light, and the Traction Control yellow light. On a side note, I had a slow leak fixed recently that required
the tire be dismounted from the wheel and re-installed. I know on the CTS-V, if the air inflation sensor went bad, it would not let you go into competition mode. This is obviously different and I am not sure what prompted this.

Any thoughts before I just take it to the dealer ??

There was great Cadillac represention this year. In addition to the STS-V, there was a CTS-V as well as an SRX and DTS on the track.

The weather was terrific, the competitors were first class, and the track was in great shape.

The STS-V took the win in the final round of the B class (13 second) against a GTO. After all 4 main classes ran, the winner of each class ran a completely blind run with no scoreboard or red light visible. The STS-V took that prize as well to claim the "King of the Hill" award.

I have a 2006 STS-V with relatively low miles (27k) and have suddenly developed a rather loud rattle in the engine. It happened after rapid accelleration upon passing a couple of cars yesterday. I didn't notice it until I was back in town traffic. It occurs only when I release the gas pedal to decelerate. It is quite noticeable upon slight accelleration, such as in traffic, when closing a gap and then releasing the throttle, to coast a ways. Also when pulling away from a stoplight and decellerating after reaching cruise speed. I have tried to duplicate it in the garage and I can still hear something, but it doesn;t seem to be as noticeable as it is when under the load. It almost sounds like valve train noise. Has there been any complaints of such a problem that I have missed on the forum, and if so, what was the ultimate diagnosis. I can't take the car in until Monday, and I would love to give them a direction to take, since they are not all that familiar with the V's here at my dealership. I get the feeling that they 'EARN WHILE THEY LEARN' on mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I noticed while driving at speeds over 65 mph I here a wierd sound or hum coming from the rear of the car? Now at lower speeds i hear a whirring like hum coming from the rear of the car? What are symptoms of a failing rear end? The car shifts smoothly and i feel no harshness even when getting down on the gas pedal? Thanks in advance.

Any help would be great?

Today I spent at least 6 hours with my STSV. Our time consisted of a nice wash, clay bar, Zainos swirl remover for some spots, Zainos AIO for base coat, and 3 coats of Zainos Z2 with FX additive. Between each step I used Z6 spray and tomorrow i will dust off the 3rd Z2 coat, use some Z6, then some Clear Seal! On top of that i used the Zainos tire shine and the AIO on the wheels. Happy, Happy V!

Oh, and i uploaded my performance tune from W4M, will get to see how it runs after the clear seal tomorrow.... Then the Max Performance tune!

The Audi A5, STS-v and the Hyundai genesis. I know its a Hyundai but it is a nice car. My only concern is that the STS-V is no longer going to be in the Cadillac line up! Any recommendations. I am basically looking for a sport luxury car. I look forward to hearing from you all.

Guys, I have gotten some pms, but I am unable to reply! so here is all the info you will need for this purchase.

All interior bulbs will be supplied.(This includes the overhead lights, the floor lights, and the exit lights.)
The license plate lights and the Reverse lights. All will be in a very crisp, white color.

In total, you will receive 14 bulbs. 10 of those will be on the interior. The other 4 will go out back.

As soon as kits are purchased and shipped, I will be posting a "how to" on removing and installing the bulbs.

I can also offer the Daytime Running light LED for the headlight. I did not include that in the price, reason being the install time and process is TEDIOUS.

The total price for the kit will be 155 +3% Paypal fee. That is shipped(hoping that no one is from Japan!! haha..)

Hope to help serve the community better.

I just got my tuner for the V and it only came with the CD with instructions. I sent email to Jess but hes hard to get in touch with at times and looking for advice from those of you who have had this before. Do i follow the instructions as is? It says to plug it into a windows system first, which i assume thats what Jess did. My guess is all i need to do is plug it into the car while its off, then follow the instructions??? Also, when it tells me to turn the key on, is that accessory on or engine on?

Jeez I hate to go to the dealer and whine about this: when my driver's side window is anything but all the way down and I tell the voice recognition system to "close all windows" the window almost closes and then goes back down halfway. I tried "relearning" (per the owner's manual) it many times but it still misbehaves. The express up feature with the switch works fine on this window, just not the voice recognition thing. Any thoughts before I go to GM?

I hit an interstate alligator the other day and luckily it went under the front fascia without a problem. BUT it was tumbling (how it missed the fascia I have no idea), once it got under the car, it destroyed the plastic pans underneath. I didn't know how bad because it had no immediate pieces flying from under the car. 5 minutes later all hell broke loose and plastic pieces were flying out from under the car all over the place.. Then a GGGGRRRRRRRRRRR coming from the front passenger tire. I pull over to the emergency lane, get out and find my wheel well liner hanging outside the wheel well grinding on the tire. The center engine liner hanging on the ground. So I start pulling pieces out from under the car. Leaving a pile of trash on the side of the road, I get in and leave for home. I call Luke and Lindsay and ordered the center piece, wheel well liner and connector piece that holds the break duct and the other two pieces in place. I get a call from Luke today saying GM doesn't have them in stock and has no idea as to when they will.:nono: Looks like our parts are drying up and GM isn't going to buy new ones any time soon.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR V.... You may not get replacement parts.

Well it seems that I will be putting my first set of tires on my V. I wanted to get everyone's opinion on the following tires: Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110.

I'm fully aware that these are not top of the line tires for our top of the line cars, however after reading reviews and riding on the current "Run-Craps", I feel they will be an upgrade. Also they can be had for $700 to our doors plus $50 rebate, so that will be less $$$ per :burn:

Please don't flame me I'm aware i'm being CHEAP here but I'm just looking for general tire, not for any track use just want something to work OK and be MORE QUIET then those damn Run-Craps (its almost embrassing with people in the car)

To date I believe these are the least expensive tire options for our cars..
