I am considering purchase of a 1990 Allante that needs an AC compressor clutch and the front speakers don't work. It has 130,000 miles, no accidents, good original paint, etc., that appear to be appropriate to the age and mileage.
My questions are:
1. How difficult is it to replace the front speakers?
2. I've had other Bose systems and with their amplified speakers, they have to be replaced with Bose -- Are these still available for Allantes?
3. This is the second Allante I've thought about buying that also has a AC compressor problem. Are these compressors prone to failure?
4. Are the compressors expensive to replace?
5. Are they readily available?
6. What should I lookout for before committing to buy this car?
Thanks,
Jim

Iv'v had a Black on Black 92 Allante for years. I love the car. It's confortable and relatively good on gas. It's in pretty good mechanical and body condition, but the elctrics are terrible. The DIC is always saying that the oil pressure is low (when its fine), the A/C compressor is overheating (when it's not) and I can't get the HVAC to work automatically. I can manually set the system (by electrically shorting it out) so that it either heats or cools, but I can't get it to work for the panel controls. From my reading, it seems that the BMC is probably shot, but I can't find anyone to agree with me. Any thoughts anybody???

Thanks in advance
