It's those things that house the parking reverse lights (the white lenses). If I can't find one I can't restore my Cadillac! The Body shop guy failed to get one off EBay. I need to find the whole unit, chrome, aluminum, light lens and all.

I have a 94 STS with 136k miles was running great. I pulled the battery out to put in my wifes car for till I could get to parts store and get her a new one.

When I put my battery back in it has messed all up. I have an IO34 code and a no PCM data when I try to pull the codes. It has done the default to 2nd gear also.

The funny thing is when I first start the car it shows PCM data for about 10 seconds then the data disappears. I see this in the DIC in bothe the fuel mpg and range displays they show numbers then go to dashes. until I turn the car off and restart then the Mpg & range show up again for 10 seconds.

I thought it might be the ECU, I got one from ebay and repalced it but it still has the same problem.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I am new to the forum and I have been reading alot of the posts here and there and have learned alot about the Cadillac CTS.

one thing i would like to know is if anyone has restored their headlights? my lights are so hazed and damaged looking that they arent even clear anymore. i had a friend suggest i just find a good kit and restore it. i figured it would just be easier to buy the non hid headlights and replace them, cause i dont see a point in having the headlight washer/sprayer.

IF i was to go and buy non HID headlights, i know that i will have to buy a HID kit, but is there anyway i can still use the harness for the d1s bulb to install a 9006 hid kit?? yall understand wat im tryin to ask? like its plug and play but can i plug a 9006 hid kit to the d1s wiring we have..

thanks guys. my headlights look like shit and im disgusted with my front end lol. just bought a v grill and some springs for the car and i dont want the look of the car ruined by the headlights.

oh, has anyone with damaged headlights just throw a tint kit on to them? how do they look? can u still see the haze??

RESPONSES WILL B APPRECIATED!!

As far as I know, this is just a design experiment, but according to the article I read in this month's issue of Top Gear, Bugatti is considering building them at a rate of 50 per year starting in 2013, but no more than 300 would be built.

Much like the Veyron, it has the same 8.0 liter 16 cylinder engine, but unlike the Veyron, which uses four turbochargers, the Galibier uses twin superchargers! They do this to boost low end torque, a trait which is more usable in a full sized saloon than it is the world's fastest and most exclusive car. It's supposed to make over 900hp, even though, official power specs have not been published yet, and it boasts a top speed in excess of 200mph, and all wheel drive is a must.

This car has one of the best looking interiors ever IMO. It's extremely clean and uncluttered, but still having more wood in it than the entire Black Forest. The dashboard is extremely simple; one broad expanse of an exotic hardwood, with two big gauges right in the center of the dashboard, a horsepower gauge and a speedometer that reads up to 245 mph! It's a four seater, with a full center console that runs the expanse of the interior. To sum it up, it's basically the Porsche Panamera on steroids.

It even looks like the Panamera, with the same basic body design (long hood, big cabin, short rear end with hatchback), but this design is much smoother looking and taller, which gives it better proportions. It has the same classic two-toned look as the Veyron, with the body being painted a certain color and having vast, highly polished aluminum cover the doors and front fenders.

I'm so glad to see Bugatti rolling out another car, especially a sedan. Bugatti has had a storied and troubled past, and it's great to see them in such strong ownership. They've made SO MANY great cars in the past and it would be so hard to watch them die, yet again.

So how many are willing to say that once this car hits the showrooms, the recession is finally over? :histeric:

My son bought a 1997 Cadillac Catera with 81,000 miles. We noticed a few things before purchasing and used those issues to our advantage. The dealer is replacing the O2 Sensor as the CEL came on. We also noticed the Defroster is putting out Cold Air on the Passenger side while warm on the Drivers. We also suspect a Fuse was intentionally removed to disable the Passenger Vanity Light as the Cover is missing and that would cause the light to be all the time, draining the battery. Other items not functioning include the Front Heated Seats, Oil Pressure and Battery Gauges. Are these related? Thanks for any help and I'm looking forward to learning more about these cars in the upcoming months.

Hello,

Not sure if this one has been covered. Yesterday, on my way home from work, an old Van Halen song came on the radio. Since the baby wasn't in the car, I took this rare chance to crank up the volume. Well, apparently I over cranked-it, as after about 5 seconds the volume dramatically dropped. Now, I have to turn the volume over 1/2 to hear anything at all.

Did I smoke an internal amplifier in the head unit? Should I go stereo shopping? If so, what delco units are compatible with the steering wheel controls? Is it an easy swap, or something that a delaler will have to program? Thanx in advance, Tom

Sitting here waiting for Michigan-Ohio State game to start, so I thought I'd pitch a bitch.

After nearly two months of looking at my somewhat dirty car in the garage, I finally found an hour to wash and dry it before going to have lunch with an old friend about an hour drive from here. Found one available spot in town on the street to park, went into restaurant, and came back out an hour-and-a-half later to my formerly pristine car. A combination of rotten crabapples and bird crap covered my car! (The picture doesn't do justice to the mess.) Drove home and washed it again before the acid had a chance to ruin the paint. :banghead:
Does anybody know of a similar tuner system that allows for up to two cars on one tuner? Both have the 6.2 V8 so I would hope the tuner would be the same model.

Hey forum, I have a problem with the P door key FOB on my 94 Fleet Brougham because my dumb ass left my keys in the car on accident, so I tried to pick the lock with a paper clip possible screwing it up. When I try to turn the key, the lock wont turn at all now, the door unlocks and locks fine when I press the lock button from the inside, but the FOB wont budge on the outside.

I really don't understand how I could of damaged it to the point where it wont turn, I didn't jam the paper clip in the key hole that hard, just some slight poking and turning.

What can I do? It's not that big of a deal for me to spend money on, just something that's bothering me now.

Also one other quick question, when using the heater, I only get hot air coming from the floor vents not the dash. But when turning the temp down under 75, the vents finally turn on? Is the system set up like this, or is something not right? I really don't like the climate control system in these Fleetwoods, they're not really all that user friendly especially when it comes to fan speed, it's either Super fast or super low:helpless: what's up with that?

Well, with a 98 seville Bose Cd player in Hand, Am told that it won't work, due to the amplifier not being part of the console like the base models.

Having searched online found a 00 Deville Cd player/basic sound system.
Looks like it should fit the 97 seville sls in question. Don't want anything fancy, other than a basic player, and was even considering an aftermarket.

If anyone knows if a Deville player would fit a 97 seville, and that all is kosher with the amplifier hurtle. Let me know,.........and i ll get it.

The Bose in hand, and the pics i see of the basic deville cd player look very similar though. As far as the attachments in back go. I was told that the bose were different here in this forum,.....

I'm just about to button up my TCC replacement, but I'm unsure of how much ATF needs to be put in. Before I started the job I read AJ's write up in which he states that 12qts would be needed but the only fluid that came out during the job was what came out of the pan, only a small amount came out of the side cover (a qt at the VERY most), is this normal and AJ was just assuming that someone would completely drain the trans during the job?

Also, my buddy that was helping me out rotated the trans stick out of the park position so I'm hoping someone will know where park is located on the NSS is it turned completely clockwise or counter clockwise or maybe its somewhere in middle?

Thank you all for your continued help!

Lots of questions lately...
Anyways. My 2002 SLS idled a bit rough when the car started up until it dropped the rpm down. It would do that almost every time I started the car until I switched to synthetic oil, now it does it about 50% of the time. I know it isnt coolant leaking into the cylinder because I can rev the engine a bit turn the car off and then back on and it will still do it, and I also recently had the coolant system tested. The car doesnt even have 60,000 miles on it so I would assume it isnt the spark plugs, but i have read alot that new plugs do wonders. There is no rpm surging and the engine runs great otherwise. And there are no codes. I do get a bit of the shimmies and was thinging if the rough idle can shake the car mabye the engine is shaking on the highway for the same reason. I am not trying the solve the shimmies with this post, focus on the idle.

Any I opinions? I plan on testing the plug wires tomorrow...

Now off and on its taking longer to start so I'm thinking spark plugs. The gap on the plugs should be 0.60 I belive and I used ac delco rapid fire. Does anyone know if they sell spark plugs all ready gapped . Im also going down the line of what can be the problem distribotr cap, rotor, ingtion coil or module. But it cranks up and starts some times it lags. The first time it did this and the battery was the problem I had the starter tested so I'm ruling that out help

I'm kind of surprised that Cadillac didn't put their fully electric convertible top in the Allante. My dad had a '65 Deville Convertible and I remember when you opened the top, you released 2 latches - 1 on each side - and you pushed a button and the electric top opened automatically. Simple operation.

All convertible Caddys worked this way until the Allante. Why do you think Cadillac made the Allante with the mostly manual convertible top and not the electric top that Cadillac made for years?

I love the Delco Bose systems that Cadillac offered. I had a '90 Eldorado with the Delco Bose Gold Series Radio / Cassette. Great sound quality for such a simple radio. Probably one of the best car radios I ever had. I eventually bought a Car CD player (the type with the fake cassette) to supplement the Cassette Player - it sounded great through the Bose System. The Bose Radio in the Eldo only had 4 speakers, but it sounded like it had many more.

How is the Bose Radio in the Allante as far as the sound quality goes? I heard that in '91, they doubled the power to 200 Waats. Did they ever increase the power above that in '92 or '93. Did they eventually add speakers in the later models.

Thanks for the info.

About a week ago my brake lights stopped working on my 2000 Escalade EXT, but only the side break lights. The 3rd brake light (Dole Light) works just like it always has. I've checked the bulbs, they are fine. I've checked the fuse in the interior fuse panel, it's fine. I've checked for fuses in the engine compartment and even though there is a fuse listed for "stop lights" there is no fuse plugged into the spot and seems like there never has been (I know they were working a few weeks ago and I haven't even opened the hood in over a month.).

I took it to the Cadillac dealership, paid the $120 for a diagnosis and they told me it was the turn signal switch (part #26100985). However, in order to replace this switch they were going to charge me over $1000, so they aren't really high in my circle of trust. Needless to say, I declined the service and now I am going to explore other options.

Here's my question for you experts: What would cause rear side brake lights to stop working without effecting turn signals, marker lights, parking lights, reverse lights, or Dole light (3rd brake light).

I also have an indicator on my trailer harness that shows when there is current going to the different wires. Turn signals register, but the breaks do not send any current to the trailer harness.

Any insight would be greatly appriciated.

I hate to show how dumb I am by asking this question, but here goes. I have a 99 Seville and I was having some issues with it back earlier in the year, so I changed the fuel pump. One of the problems was the guage so I thought I would go ahead and kill two birds with one stone. Ok, the question is does anyone know how many fuel line connections should be on the pump assembly. I don't remember what was on the one I removed, but the one I have now has three and there is only two lines going to the pump. I was getting a few codes back then I got most of them cleared up, but I am getting the fuel tank sensor high and low since changing the pump. I also have a very strong odor of gas when I have the car full and I get some leakage from the top of the tank. So should this pump have two connections on it and if so, could I just cap and clamp the extra one? Thank you and I apologize for not paying more attention when changing the pump.

All of a sudden, the back of the car started to fishtail - I was expecting the Traction Control to kick in, but it never did. And there are other times that I'll accelerate over a wet sewer plate and the back wheels barely slip and I see the Traction Control Active message.
Did anyone else ever notice this?

Riding low in the back but the ELC pump works? Here's what I did:

My Seville at 50k miles was riding 1 to 2 inches low in the back with an empty trunk. The pump would just simply turn off after a certain height. For some reason the BCM would decide that the car is at the proper height when obviously it was not. The pump runs fine and the shocks dont leak as far as I can tell so I fooled the sensor into thinking the car is riding too low thus activating the pump.

You will find a device like this behind the left-rear wheel:

All you have to do is pop the ends off with a flat-head screwdriver and make the rod just a bit longer. I sacrificed a $1.00 stanley screwdriver that happened to have the same diameter as the oem rod. The plastic ends just slide off of it.

I forget what the original length is but I started out with a rod that was 1/2" longer than oem. This length put the rear end just a tad too high for my taste but your results may vary. 2 3/8" ended up being the perfect length for my car but I'm sure it depends on the condition of your own ELC system.

So if your car rides low but the pump still works AND (this is important), pump does not run endlessly, give this a try. Its cheap, easy, and you can always put the old rod back in.

Hey everyone!

I have a couple of questions regarding the factory stereo in my Escalade. I would like to upgrade some things (maybe) and wanted to get a better idea of what would be the best course of action.

First of all, does the factory head unit have preamp outputs that can be used to drive an aftermarket sub and amp? I would like to put a different subwoofer in the Escalade, since I have one lying unused in storage. I have doubts that the factory unit does have the preamp outs because of the Bose premium system. Maybe I am wrong, though. My Escalade has the navigation system but it is not the touchscreen model. I also have the 6 disc changer.

I have also considered replacing the head completely, in favor of a more feature-filled Pioneer AVIC F700BT (with the newest software, of course). I love the idea of voice controlled iPod functionality and the enhanced navigation and Bluetooth options. I would need to purchase the harness that is supposed to retain the door chimes, OnStar functionality, and the use of the Bose system, but it seems like it may be worthwhile.

My second question, going along with the AVIC head, is about the disc changer. How does the factory changer work with the factory head unit? Pioneer makes a 6 disc changer that works with the F700BT and looks as though it would fit right where the current one is. It is, unfortunately, quite pricey. I do love having six CDs loaded up so it would be a future upgrade to consider. If, however, the factory changer could interface with the F700BT (though it seems like a long shot) I would be quite thrilled. The Pioneer model is the XDV-P6.

Thanks in advance for any information, suggestions, or tips!

I was really excited, the dealer had 2 AWD luxurys in stock, gray flannel and black, I drove the gray flannel one first, a lot of steering wheel vibration at highway speeds and the big ONE was that after I got off at the exit, there was a plume of blue smoke behind the vehicle, of course the sales guy says that they all do it, I then drove the black one, same vibration issue on the highway ( I drive this stretch all the time ) , 2 vehicles with out of balance tires, plus there was an awful lot of transmission shifting just cruising on both of these, I have not purchased an American car in 15 years, I tried, I even got a discounted price of 1500 off list before any incentives, oh well .Also when the black one was started, the exhaust was blue also ??? Is this a characteristic of a Di engine ? Burning oil ??? Not a confidence builder.

Well I got tired of replacing the front motor mounts on my 99 seville. As we all know this mount goes out repeatedly probably due to the high amount of heat and torque they are subject to. I got tired of waiting months on end for someone to design produce and sell a solid motor mount to rid me of these problems. So I went searching through numerous of threads finding as much info as possible to why the mounts are so weak . It seems that GM tried to save a few pennies by eliminating the torque struts (AKA DOG BONES) on the newer sevilles. This created a problem. The gm stock front motor mount can’t handle too many WOTS or much spirited driving. So I went out to my local pull it yourself auto parts yard in search of some torque struts. I pulled a set off of a late 90s Deville that was a cash for clunkers car.

I made sure to get all the brackets associated with them. I also saw a nice looking 98-99 seville with Beautiful black leather interior which was in better condition than my tan/ shale interior. Needless to say I went back the next morning and gutted the whole car. Back on subject.

After doing some rough measurements it looks like the struts will fit on the motor with some slight modifications to the routing of the power steering return hose and alternator coolant supply hose.

You will have to cut a small piece of to bracket to get it to sit flush on the motor. You might also have to support the upper radiator hose to keep it off of the water pump pulley (my guard is missing). One problem that I did run into is the routing of the fuel and return lines.

If car was bought new with the 17' (plus one) option, why doesn't sticker reflect that?

Is it possible to run 17' tires on a 16' rim?
I guess it is possible that somwhere along the line from assembly line to me purchasing car that someone put 17' rims/tires on vehicle.
I am about to buy new tires soon and want to make sure I get right size, also 16' tires are somewhat cheaper.

New problem with the '02 STS.

I smell coolant (strong) and lose coolant regularly, but I had a pressure test done and it doesn't lose pressure :suspect:
The system was tested three times; 1st time held for 5 mins, 2nd time held for 10 mins, 3rd time 15 mins. Each time no loss of pressure was found with pressure reset for next test. Each test was for 12-15 psi.

I suspect the water pump may be leaking while engine is at full running temperature and under pressure load. I don't think it's burning it (i.e. headgaskets) because the smell comes from under the hood and is strong at idle.

Any thoughts or things I'm missing?

part numbers:
2290 - 1 3/8" Front Sway Bar
2289 - 1" Rear Sway Bar

Jegs has them both ready to go for 172.99 front and 139.99 rear (312.98 total). By contrast Hotchkis wants 493.95 for a front and rear combo - not only that, while the rear bar is the same size, the front Hotchkiss bar is only 1 1/4"

Yay cheap performance parts!:D

i bought this 2000 base model Deville (my 2nd n* powered caddy) about 5 months ago and have had nothing but problems. it stalls and doesnt wanna idle at a normal rpm. i had a crankshaft position sensor replaced and that only helped for about a week. sometime the rpm's get stuck at around 1500 its like the cruise control is set at 35mph. i think the heater core is about to go. it blows air out of the floor vents when the climate control is off. also the heat is only hot when set to 90 degrees as soon as you put it to 89 its almost cold. iv had 2 wheel bearing replaced. also the car leaks like a sivv iv put about 6-8 quarts in since iv had it. everywhere i go there is a puddle of oil and when i stop at lights the thing looks like its on fire. the mechanic says its the rear main seal AND oil pan gasket and he cant even do the rear main because the trans has to come out. does anyone know how much it would be to fix the rear main and oil pan? im really in a shi**y situation here with this car. i financed the car and just lost my job and now have all these problems. it sucks 1 car can ruin all northstar cadillacs for me..

I have a CL55 and looking to trade in for a CTS-V.

Granted cold and new tires (60 degrees), but my test drive (automatic) left me wondering about the car's traction. I drove the CTS-V at Monticello Race Track in the Spring and the car gripped like it had race slicks.

- Barely (3/4 throttle) getting into the gas in 1st gear (traction on) car bogged down for several seconds before recovering. sport mode auto

- Same thing with traction off was a waste of time. sport mode auto

40 mph roll even had the car step out on me. This thing felt so slick that it wasn't very pleasant to drive with just a hint of spirited driving.

Owners: Is this a common problem? If so, modded owners must have a heck of time getting traction down. I've drag raced and road raced for years and I would have no chance of getting 0-60mph in under 4 seconds with this car. Anything close to full throttle under 40mph or so just spun the tires.
Thanks!

Chris

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the movie Wise Guys with Danny Devito, Joe Piscopo and the late great Capt Lou Albano aka "Freddy the Fixer". My license plate on my FWB actually reads "FIXR" as an homage to the Fixer.

2 GREAT Cadillacs in that Movie. Mob Boss Fank Costello's FWB that gets Blown UP in the infamous "start the car" scene and of course Frankie the Fixer's white 59 convertible that gets painted pink then WRECKED along the NJ turnpike but miraculously appears white and PERFECT in the last scene!!

Anybody on this forum that HAS NOT seen Wise Guys should be ashamed!!!

Newbie needs advice: I have a newly purchased '98 Deville with 56K miles.
On a cold start, the car needs a dozen or so cranks before starting, but it does start everytime. Seems to be a flooding problem, ie. strong smell of gas, puff of gray-white smoke. The car then runs out fine, until aftrer sitting at idle for a few minutes and returning to driving speed it boggs as if trying to glup too much gas at once. Also, after driving for a period of time then stopping and turnning of the motor, I can restart with just a touch of the key - no flooding symptoms . Trouble codes P0165H, P0440H, P0463H and P1599H.

I finally got her looking all pretty and now the past couple of days the tranny seems to be sluggish from a dead stop only when she's cold??

I'll put her in gear and it takes off but hesitates like hell for a few seconds before kicking into 2nd....then it shifts just fine. It seems to be only when it's cold because it fine after warm up.

I checked the tranny fluid and it's at the correct level but a little dirty.

My tech says to try changing the fluid, gasket and filter and that might be all....I hope. It's only got 55k on it.

Any similar issues out there??

I have a question, I am hoping I can get a good answer from experienced owners here on the forum.

I currently track my '09 V once or twice a month. I love how well the car handles, runs, brakes etc... What I don't like is how much I am using up tires and what my options for tires are for this car in a 19" size. What I am looking to do is the following:

Replace the current PS2's that have no more shoulders with with Pilot Sport A/S models and a 45,000 mi warranty.

Purchase a second set of 18" aluminum wheels for the track and shoe them with a Dot R tire.

I want to go with the 18" wheel tire combo for the track as it allows me to find many more tires in a better price range for the track. They also should give me lower rolling mass, and more torque to the ground.

My questions,

Do I need to put in TPS monitors on the 18" tires

If I don't put them in, and the DIC flashes warnings, when I clear it, will the TPMS issue mess with the active handling or traction control?

If it does, could I clear it, until I get home and put the stock road wheels back on and reset the TPMS?

If I do put in TPMS monitors on the race day wheels, do I need find a way to flash the computer to accept the 18" tire/wheel combo, and then flash back when I get home?

Dropped the car off at a custom paint shop. Getting a two tone w/ the light platinum on top and a darker shade of "titanium" on the bottom. Also having a burnt orange pearl accent stripe done (slightly darker than the Hot Lava color) and the wheels will be painted to match the titanium color. The painter is a well-known guy out here in CA who happens to live next door to my sister. Saw his work in his driveway, struck up a conversation and he was all over the lines on the car - even pulled out some striping tape from his pocket and starting laying down a design for the stripe. I have the E&G kit already on the car, so this should make for an very unique - but tasteful - look for the CTS. I'll try to post some pictures when it is done, but won't be until the week of 7 December.

I was looking for an STS for months..one that would fit my specs:

* Mint
* low Miles
* warranty
* Moon roof
* NAV!
* colr any
* v6

I went through so many crappy STS. So many dealers.
Drove hours to see some of these cars.. Search endlessly online.

It wore me out. I was on my last leg... UTIL..

I found the perfect car ( ALMOST )

Black On Black 2005
From Authorized caddy dealer
Moon Roof
NAV
FLAWLESS
Only 33,000 miles
MINTTTTT

I jumped on it.. Beat out another couple who was eying it.
BAM!

Now.I dont beat on cars. I keep up with maintenance.
In fact my Honda CR-V is at 130,000 miles and runs great.
Never a mechanical problem!
(gave it to my wife..she just got her license)

The one thing my new STS does not have...

No Warranty.

Am I Screwed or what?

The mileage is 115,000.
Any ideas! trying To get this concept on my car without usung a jobber add on to accomplish this. Also Have access to a 96 in the wrecking yard( it went too early 96,000 miles on it& a gold key one at that!), that CCM in it should have the option on it for DRL's( CANADIAN FEATURE)!? Also if i take this ccm should i get the car keys & detach it a particular way to avoid messing it up? but in the end The wiring Question for the Dropping Diode, need help!

I have a 91 sdv that has a slightly sagging rear end. it is most noticeable when I have a full tank of gas. I dont believe that the air compressor is the problem and I dont think there are any air leaks. Does anyone know if this system from strutmasters would help me out?
And if it would be a better alternative than replacing the rear suspension? Id like to get about 2 inches higher in the rear. Just so the chrome on the wheel well is about the same height as the top of the tire. Thanks

I have a skip in the engine at warmed up idle. I was told that the ones on there now look like the originals. 178K. I took the plugs out and they were GM originals (?) and a real mess. I put in a set of iridium ones and believe I screwed up a wire becuase now I get that miss. I bought a new set of Bosch wires and would like to learn the secret of getting at that coil. I hooked up my code reader and there were no codes recorded. Can anyone help? Regards.

Hey fellas,

You're resident overcaffeinated madman here with a bit of a question.

I recently pulled the demolished vinyl top off my '75 Coupe DeVille, as I'm at that near end stage of her restoration (the last bit of body work to be done is the roof). Question is, since the vinyl tucks into the side windows on a CDV, what is the PROPER removal and reinstallation procedure, as it isn't stated in any of the Chilton's, Haynes' or factory service manuals I have. I'm thinking that since I have to reupholster the car (doing it myself on the days when the weather's too bad to do body work), if I might have to just take the interior completely apart to get them out?

If I have to do the latter, then I'll just recondition ALL of the interior parts then. Thanks guys, you're all great!

P.S. My buddy told me that he thought this project has turned into something I never expected, but the truth is, since the car belonged to another good friend (it was his dad's car, but his mom got terminally sick and could no longer fix her), I feel almost obligated to get her ready so they can see her done as a family. Just my 2 cents. :bouncy:

I pulled the codes and only came up with one current// P040 which is the suspension-speed regulator or something of that nature.. totally irrelivent is my guess.
ANY HELP HERE?!
If this is the ICP how can i remove it to get the parts number for Junkyard Replacement!?

Hey guys, ive got a 98 sts with 136k on it. Ive replaced the CKP's, plugs, wires, ful filter, etc. Trying to get as much done on it as possible. Ever since the day ive owned the car its had a rough idle issue. I replaced everything trying to track it down and she still idles rough. This is the least of my worries as of right now. Ive noticed latelly that when its cold it misses horribly. Once it gets some heat in it, she runs fine. So tonight I swapped out the coil packs and the ICM. Hoping that helps. Also ive noticed a few wierd electrical things latelly. The doors dont unlock most of the time when you put it in park. Then apon restarting the car they lock, unlock and lock again quickly. Also the radio holds stations for a little while, then all of the sudden will just reset???? I also noticed that my horn beep when locking the car is very weak now, but the voltage says OK. Its right at 14 volts. Any suggestions?

I'm in the beginning stages of making plans for my next car, a classic caddy as a dd. I plan on swapping in a duramax, along with the brake system out of a caprice or something along those lines (whatever's the best bang for the buck). At any rate, I'm trying to spend 20 or less plus the proceeds of selling my Pontiac. And I'm not sure whether I'm best off going with completely refurbishing a beater, getting something in decent condition or going for a later model. After looking online it appears that you can get a rebuilt 390 for roughly $3,500. Could I expect this for an engine that hasn't been rebuilt but runs well? Also, how much can I expect to get for a transmission in very good condition? I was guessing $1,500, but obviously I have no idea.

I've searched with negative results...

Okay, this is totally frackin' ridiculous! Up until a couple of days ago I've been tapping into some of the speaker leads coming from the Bose amp in the trunk to get my remote input. But for some odd reason it's quit working lately and only provides enough voltage to intermittently turn my aftermarket amp on. Additionally, ever since I initially wired it I noticed that every time you open or close or lock or unlock the doors or open the trunk it gives the wiring coming out of the Bose amp a temporary voltage spike that in turn activates my amplifier and THUMPS my sub. But whatever, at least it worked...

But for whatever reason these wires no longer provide enough voltage (around 6 volts tops) to trigger my amp to come on. Again, whatever...I'll just find another wire in the myriad of wires in the trunk that provides 12 volts whenever the stereo is on, right? WRONG!!

I just spent the last two hours with my voltmeter checking EVERY wire and fuse in the trunk and could not find ANY that provided a dedicated circuit for the stereo. Both radio-related fuses in the trunk fuse box provide 12 volts ALL the time, not just when the radio is on.

Seriously? Is there not a single wire in the trunk that only provides a 12 volt source when the stereo is powered up? Am I missing something? Even the main, large red w/ black stripe power wire that goes into the Bose amp has power running to it ALL the time.

Am I going to have to settle for a wire that is powered at all times when the ignition is on? I mean, I guess this is fine assuming I want my amplifier on whenever the car is running regardless of whether I'm listening to music or not. I'm just a little miffed at my inability to find what I was looking for.

Rant done.

If someone knows something I don't, please chime in!

Hey there,

Im not sure what to do about my recent automatic transmission issue.

My problem is with the overdrive in my 1995 ETC. When driving normal it doesn't want to stay in overdrive and kicks into third I think. Then sometimes when I am coasting through town and down hills, it will finally slide into overdrive and the instant mpg's are great. The other gears are working fine but shifting a tad harder than normal. It is really affecting my gas mileage, currently getting an average of 11-12 mpg.

I am not sure if it is a problem with the transmission solenoids, or if the tranny is just going out due to having 160,000 miles on it. I went to the local Cadillac dealership and the guy I talked to just had dollar signs in his eyes and didn't tell me anything helpful.

I added some Lucas Transmission fix but didn't seem to have any effect. I also checked my codes, and no problems there. Im not affraid to get greasy and fix it, but at the same time don't want to get in over my head.:confused:

I am a starving college kid :) and would like to fix this as cheap as possible! So hopefully you guys have some ideas. Thanks for the help!

Guy's,
I'm a first time Cadillac owner. I bought a used 2006 CTS with 29K miles on. The car is awsome, great shape..I love it.

My question is does anyone know how to get your cell phone to linc to the speakers so I can use the interior mic and speakers for phone calls? The car has ONstar and the rear view with the buttons on it but I have no idea if I can do this or if i need to use the Onstar portion and pay for this feature.
Since its a Caddy I figured this should not be an issue nor should I need to buy anything to make this work.

Am I making any sense?..Has anyone done this before? ALso, do any of the 2006 models come with blue tooth ??..

I checked the manual and I cant find anything on this..

ThankS!!

My power antenna is broken and since I hardly use the radio, I thought I'd do a quick and easy fix and just attach a long piece of wire to where the antenna is connected and attach it along the edge of the engine compartment.
Does anyone know if it's possible to disconnect the wire that connects the antenna to the radio, under the hood? (connector pictured below)
It works great if I touch the wire to the tip of the antenna, but I don't want a wire coming out of the hood into the antenna hole.

Well after two years of trouble free ownership of my 2003 deville,I have had my first issue.......and it's a big one. On the freeway today I thought I had a window open due to some noise intrusion. Went to roll up all the windows one by one and when I got to the front passenger window it happened.

It made what sounded like a crinkling noise, almost like something had broke inside the door and then fell into tiny pieces to the bottom. At that point I foolishly tried to roll it down, which it did, and then was stuck in a partially open posistion.

Now it will not go up or down, and I had to shove something in the window to keep it in the up posistion. This is obviously a temporary fix and would like to get some ideas from you fine folks as to what this could be.

Is this the dreaded window regulator I have heard so much about? Or could it be something else? Any ideas? Thanks!
