i've had the unlimited calling plan for $9.99/month for the past year and a half or so. i haven't been too active on the forum lately but some of you will remember that i moved from the boonies of upstate NY to FL. so now we're back in the land of cell phones, but i kept the plan anyway b/c it was so convenient and relatively inexpensive.

now i received a letter that said the rates are going up for that plan to $14.99/month. so at this point i figure i should rely on the cell and not renew. and while i've been able to shmooze the onstar/xm crowd in the past, there was nothing on this and when i "hinted" at a lower price she actually said "their hands were tied on this one and there was nothing they could do", however she did tell me that my last month in june would be on the house. which was nice.

so thats an fyi for whomever. since i'll be using the iphone a bunch more now, can someone remind me if, when connected to the NAV through bluetooth, it uses it's own antenna or the cars? as i recall, it uses the phones?

I have a Kenne Bell BAP that I am wanting to install in my car. Just as I did with my other vehicles, I researched the topic and yes, since I live about 1.5 miles from Kenne Bell, drove there to talk to them myself. Mustang was a no brainer, E39 M5 was a different story.. What I have found is little information on the actual install but varying degrees of opinions on what works and what doesnt in the V2 CTSV.

Here is the link to a "CTS V Fuel Sytems Warning" thread from a few years ago that in my opinion is a very interesting discussion on the topic:

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...ml#post2440230

To cut to the chase, the most important information that I took from this was the following few paragraphs:

"I have not measured the output voltage from the Caddy FPCM, but if it is anything like the 2010+ Camaros, the FPCM limits the output voltage to a max of 12.8v (see here). Currently, we tuners are not able to modify the FPCM max voltage output/limit, since the current crop of tuning software manufacturers do not access the FPCM control module. If we were able to, this would allow us to increase the output limits from the FPCM, thus potentially being able to install a BAP *before* the FPCM (see below). This is all in theory, however.

Basically, you have two options at this point:

1 (easiest): Kenne Bell Boost-a-Pump or a Magnavolt (what Whipple uses on their Camaro kits). If you install this, it is imperative that you install this post-FPCM, otherwise you'll run into issues with the FPCM controlling the voltage going into it, and preventing any additional voltage going out. This is contrary to a Ford with a similar system, in that you should always install a BAP pre-FPDM, as Ford's FPDM (fuel pump driver module) will allow for the additional voltage into it and out, as needed. LPE sells a complete kit that includes a KB BAP here, however you may be able to buy a KB BAP and build your own wiring harness for cheaper. Kenne Bell (BAP) and Whipple (uses Magnavolt) install their systems post-FPCM".

I read contradictary information on this including what Kenne Bell states. I should note, that KB DOESNT have an official position on the installation, only on the Camaro install, which they said they do PRE-Fuel Pump.

The attached photo is of the battery compartment schematic in the trunk. This is where the fuse block is for the fuel pump. Here are my questions:

1. Does someone have the Kenne Bell BAP installed on their car and KNOW FOR SURE that it operates at the full 17+ volts when fully engaged?

2. Can someone that has this installation THAT WORKS AS DESIGNED, describe to me whether i tap into Slot#21 (30amp - s/roof & fuel pump)
and if so, do I tap in forward of the fuse block, at the fuse block or after... Is the location of the CTS V FPCM?

Some will question why I am choosing to go this route. I have faith in the CTSV fuel system, especially since I have increased injector size, so reaching maximum pressure limits isnt the concern. Now, I want to make sure I cover VOLUME demand. The increased voltage that a BAP provides to the fuel pump ensures there is no drop in pressure/volume due to voltage drop from other sources at high RPM.

Howdy,

I have a 2007 CTS V6 3.6l RWD that requires a new rear (left side) Hub Assembly installed. I have gotten shop quotes at almost $700 and believe this is a bit extreme so am looking to see if this is a plausible project to take on myself. I looked at the tools I think I would need and the only thing I would have to purchase is a slide hammer bearing puller, which I needed anyways. So my question is this: Is it worth doing by myself?... And if so, does anyone have any links or know of a place to find a complete step-by-step documentation/book type-resource for such a job? Any advice is certainly welcome.

Thanks in advance.
I plan on buying a 2010 sedan auto with 31000 miles this weekend. Buying the car as certified from a Cadillac dealer. My question is, should I expect the dealer to have replaced anything on the car before selling it as certified?

Looking at the service record nary a brake pad, tire or any other wear and tear item was touched. The rear tires are clearly worn. Salesman hit me with as long as they have 51% life left they are good to go for a cpo car....

Good Evening All...

I must admit that I'm a bit stunned to be on a GM forum, as I haven't been a fan of the brand in many years. That said, I found a superb deal on a super low mileage (32K) 2004 SRX with all the options (navigation, AWD, V8, DVD, etc), and will be picking it up in a couple of days. This will be my wife's daily driver and she is coming from a Toyota Sienna (which I wanted to keep forever, because that's how long Toyotas seem to last), but she finally realized that there is absolutely nothing cool about a minivan. The features she did like in the Sienna were the backup camera and bluetooth for the wireless cell phone. Did either of these options exist on the 2004 model? I suspect the answer is no, but I just wanted to ask the experts.

On another note, are there any known issues that I need to be aware of with the SRX? I've never been a fan of GM's reliability and quality, and I'm just hoping that things have changed and that my mind will change along with that. I'll stick to driving foreign and let my wife be the guinea pig on the Cadillac. My mechanic told me that I should "run" from the Northstar engine, which does concern me. Have any fellow SRX owners had any serious and/or chronic issues with this engine? Any and all feedback offered is greatly appreciated.

New to the site. My 2005 has been burning a lot of oil. I have already come across the air cleaner problem and the fact that they just burn oil.
The real problem I have is from a dead start and then WOT the car will jump up then drop to nothing and back to WOT. I didn't look at the tach but I am guessing around 1800-2400 then 600 and back up and down. It also seamed to do it from a smooth 35 mph, and going WOT just didn't feel right ??
Drives fine for my wife. (Light foot)
90K miles 3.6 L RWD
No codes show up with my Accutron reader
Bad fuel pump wouldn't show so fast I don't think ??
fuel filter ??
Clogged Catylist?
ECU ???
Throttle position ??
I will post a Video if it will help.

Looking for someone to help me get to about 625-650 rwhp on my 2012 V Coupe 6Spd. I'm in Sarasota but willing to drive up to Tampa if need be. Prefer a shop that has specific V experience, not just GM...

Second question... Stopped by a shop without naming names a couple of days ago and was told that HP Tuner software had some bugs and issues with the 2012's and for that reason alone, he said it would touch it and nor should I. Is this guy onto something or is he showing his age and not moving forward with new technology? Clearly people are getting tunes, are they using different software?

Thanks for input.
When I close the trunk as the lid gets closed all the way, the motor buzzes. To keep it from doing that I disconnected the motor, and then ran the catch down almost all the way. That works, and the button on the dash still works, and the button on the key fob works also. The lid doesn't pull down of course. Is this an easy fix?

Seems the oil pump on my 97 STS just keeps throwing me curve balls. Hopefully this is the last question I have on it. The very end of the crankshaft is machined a few thousandth's or so which creates a lip about 1 inch from the end. The crank pulley will not go past this lip when I slip it on the crankshaft by hand so the crank pulley ends up being about 1 inch from the oil pump drive sleeve which it is supposed to be torqued up against. So my question is - Is the crank pulley supposed to be installed with some type of press BEFORE it is torqued down or will torquing the crank pulley bolt down to 37lbs + the additional 120 degrees force it past the lip and up against the oil pump drive sleeve? I have attached a couple of pics below. The 1st pic is the pic of the end of the crankshaft showing the lip where the pulley stops when installed by hand. The 2nd pic shows the 1 inch or so gap between the pulley and the front of the oil pump/oil sleeve. Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

I have a friend with a '92 FWD Fleetwood who is having intermittent trouble with it bogging down and sputtering/hardly running. He said the last time he was on the Interstate when it started acting up. His speed dropped, it ran rough and eventually it stalled and he had to be towed home.

I went by there today to see what we could figure out and the car fired right up and ran perfectly. I drove it around a few minutes and it never acted up. :hmm: From his description of how it was acting, it sounds like either a spark or a fuel problem. The bad thing is that this car has had a history of electrical problems, so it could be a number of things.

The only current code is F47--- Low refrigerant

Unfortunately in his ignorance, he cleared all past codes but wrote some down before he did... I have highlighted the ones that made me raise an eyebrow They are listed below. My thought was to get the car from him and kick around in it for a couple days to see if it acted up and threw a code. Opinions?

VCC/TCC Brake Switch/Park/neutral switch Input Circuit Problem
Intermittent TPS Signal
(Ignition Control Module) 24x Reference Low Indicator
Vehicle Speed Sensor signal to TCC
Electronic Spark Timing (EST) Signal problem [EGR]
Cruise Servo Apply Problem
Open TPS Signal [VCC]
Shorted TPS Signal [VCC]
Open Fuel Pump Circuit
A/C high pressure switch/A/C high side temperature problem
No Distributor Signal
Shorted Coolant Temp Sensor
Voltage Out of Range [ALL SOL]
A/C was disabled because of high refrigerant pressure

There are also a few more codes that I could not find a description for... I don't have a '92 FSM.

I have been having the following problem with the factory stereo on my '06 CTS (non-Bose, w/out navigation):

On hot days when the car has been sitting outside in the sun, the stereo will not put out sound in any mode immediately after startup. This goes on for awhile and later, when the car is cooler, it works again. When the problem is happening, the display is normal as if the stereo is working, just no sound.

It never happens in the morning after the car has been in my garage all night. This leaves me no conclusion other than that heat is the cause.

Any ideas?

Hello, all. I've been lurking and have posted a couple times with some pointed "issues", and everyone has been incredible with feedback.(thanks!)

I'm about to do a 100k service(I'm at roughly 107k, currently) on my '04 3.6L- more preventative then anything- and wanted some opinions if I've got everything covered before I have my mechanic block off a day!

I plan on doing the following all within the month:

1. timing chain kit(going w/ autozone kit- approx $250ish)
2. water pump while we're in the area. I know don't fix if it aint broken, but it's CHEAP, so I'm doing it!
(do I want to hit anything else while I have all of this(above) open and accessible? any specific seals that might not come with the timing chain kit?)
3. fuel filter
4. Trans fluid drain(not flush!!) and filter replacement(any advice on TYPE/BRAND of fluid or filter?)
5. Plugs/wires(was going to grab autolite extreme performance plugs. Thoughts?)
6. radiator flush

I've got a bit of oil in my air box coming from the hose that goes back to the driver's side of the engine. I'm a little green with the pcv valve, but my guy says he might be able to look in to it further and see if it's clogged/needs to be fixed/cleaned.

If after the timing chain and cleaned pcv valve, and I'm STILL using excessive oil(which I am currently), should I just deal with it, or is there anything else we should try?

I'm an ecstatic first time Caddy owner and am in absolute love with my car. Just want to make sure she stays around for a bit ;)

Thanks, all!

"Left Front Solenoid Circuit Low". What does this involve?? Please Help!!!

A little more info.
I have had the car for 1 month and have only put 200 miles on it. Car does not even have 79000 miles on it. This has me greatly distressed since I bought the car as is.

I had hand washed the car and pressure washed the engine and wheel wells a day or so before this showed up. Could it be that I disconnected something or got it wet??

Thanks to everyone for participating in a great forum. I have learned alot here while lurking over the past few years, and this is a great source of info. Despite maintaining my wife's 2008 CTS religiously, last Friday night at 107k miles it spun a rod bearing. The dealership quoted me $4,300 for a rebuild and $6,700 for a new motor. Id appreciate everyone's thoughts on whether this is reasonable.

Also, Im sorry to say that I am very disappointed in GM. Despite being in a demographic they are trying to appeal to (Im 31), having the income to buy any of the CTS's competitors, and owning what at the time was Cadillac's flagship car, they are offering no assistance whatsoever in paying for this. I realize that it is 7000 miles out of warranty, but it will be hard to consider purchasing another GM vehicle.

Thanks in advance for everyone's help

Good afternoon folks,

I just received a new navigation disc for my 2006 Cadillac STS4 and was wondering how i can go about updating to this new disc. I tried inserting the new nav disc in the nav disc slot but the navigation screen simply reads "Please insert Map disc" even though it is already inserted. Is their some sort of process to go through for updating the maps? I have searched the forums and looked online along with reading the nagivation manual and i just can't seem to figure this out. I would really appreciate the help, below i have listed some information that may or may not help.

Current Navigation disc: Version 5.00 (GM p/n 25976806U)
Update Nagivation disc: Version 8.00 (GM p/n 22820294)

I just checked the www.gmnavdisck.com website and the update navigation disc listed above is not compatible with my 2006 sts4, i received the disc from a friend who own an identical 2007 sts4. I thought all nav disc where compatible through the STS line up? Can anyone chime in on this?

When accelerating the vehicle at slow speed and then releasing the pedal, a loud and rough clunk is sometimes heard coasting through 18 MPH as the transmission shifts to the next higher gear. The vehicle also is rough shifting from reverse to drive, with a 3 second delay and then a clunk and forward jerk. This problem seems to be intermittent and the dealer has not been able to duplicate when I bring the vehicle in for service. This is starting to get real frustrating knowing there is a problem but the dealer says nothing found. Dealer said engine mounts are fine. Anyone out there with similar symptoms? 2008 ESV AWD

Gentlemen, I've been searching and asking questions, and here are the order of mods in terms of power gains for a naturally aspirated V. The first mods are meant to give you the most power. The LS6 list I got directly from Patrick Guerra (though he was saying it applies to all V1s). I tend to think the order of mods is slightly different for the LS2 given how shitty the intake manifolds are. But I am a noob, so, who the **** am I to differ? Please chime in with whether you agree or disagree and whether you would change the order. Also, I'm not sure where ported heads fit in, so go ahead and stick em in there, if you dare.

LS6 Engine:
1. Cold Air Intake
2. Long tube headers
3. Light-weight flywheel
4. Custom cam
5. FAST 102
LS2 Engine:
1. Long tube headers
2. Light-weight flywheel
3. Custom cam
4. FAST 102
5. Cold air intake

Replacing rotors, but my current rotor to hub bolts will be FUBAR'd upon removal. Though it may not be necessary, I want to put new ones back in when re-assembling.

These were not readily available around the GM dealers in Detroit, so last Friday I ordered them from GMPartsGiant . com thinking I would get them this week. This morning I just got a backorder email from them.

Anyone know of anyone that stocks these? I will stop in at Autozone/Oreilleys/ etc but doubt they'll have them.

I have a nice new set of Centric 125 Cryo'd rotors waiting for install but no "nuts" as the GM parts catalog refers to them. :)

I have a 2002 STS thats makes an odd clicking sound while cruising on the highway. The only time i hear it is when im steady on the throttle for a period of time.

It sounds like and electronic relay type click, and IS rpm based. Higher rpm = faster click. Now if i lift my foot off the throttle and then go back on the clicking stops, until I hold steady again. The ONLY time i ever hear this is on the highway at a constant rpm for 20+ seconds

I am thinking its a fuel injector, but would like another opinion. If it is an injector what would cause this and how do I make it stop?

New member here. I need to replace the rear bumper on my 79 Coupe DeVille. I believe 77 & 78 bumpers would fit. Also, if anyone knows of salvage/junk yards in the New York City, Long Island or nearby regions that have old Cadillac parts, please let me know. I tried a bunch and was unsuccessful. No recommendations either. Thanks, and glad to be here!

Just bought a 01 deville. The person I bought it from for 900 dollars said It needed a new crankshaft. Speaking to other people they say the car will either run or it wont if its broken. I was able to drive this car home (almost) but it broke down and I had to have it towed.

Car knocks like a can of spraypaint sounding from the Northstar 24 valve at low speeds but on the highway I could not hear it going 70. AFter about 30 miles down the highway, the car suddenly lost alot of power and sounded really shitty all of a sudden. So I pulled over to look under the hood. Turned off the car but when I tried to turn it back on all it was doing was clicking really fast with one attempt at a crank. No turning over just clicking.

So Sounds like the starter went out is it common that the starter would go out in that situation like that? I noticed the anti theft light came on as well, Does the Anti theft disable the starter???? Was about to buy a new one but then I thought of that.

What would the knocking be? Ive asked around and been told everything from the pistons to timing chains. I need to know if the car is going to cost me more then 1.5k to get it back in running condition. I plan on using some cheap labor from craigslist and will buy the parts cheap on ebay if need be.

I found a cheap engine for 800 dollars on http://car-part.com/ Would it be better to do an engine swap? I can probably find someone on craigslist to do it for 300 dollars. I hope at least.

Thanks.

A couple of weeks ago, it rain pretty hard and my sun roof leaked pretty bad. Water go into the car and I had standing water (about 2 inches thick of water, cause my car was on a slight incline) in the drivers side and all over the dash board, seats, you name it up front. Well now the center portion of the dash doesn't work, like the navigation system, the radio and or the air conditioner. I looked at all of the fuses and they are all fine. The only thing I haven't tried was disconnecting the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated to see what I need to do to get this to work again. No my car isn't under warranty, I bought it used and has about 80,000 miles on it. It's a 2008 CTS AWD 3.6 DI.

Well eatyoursandwich is not a person you want to deal with. He is a liar and a crook.
He was to send me a 2011 navi disc in which he didn't pay forward and I paid $20 for the disc which didn't matter since it was a newer disc than mines but he sent an old version 3 disc from 2007. He is untrustworthy. He pulled the old bait and switch. I have no use for an adult who acts in this type of manner. This is just a warning so you can stay clear of him. He has only been around since january but as far as I'm concerned he is rotten to the core. That's all i have to say but if I see him trying to sell more of his products I will jump in and let the person know, so he better not try those tactics again on this forum. he won't answer his email nor his PM's. LOL, All that for $20. There is no honor among thieves and he is a thief. nuff said.

First of all thanks to all the advice I've gotten the past two months over getting new wheels. One of my first posts on here after I got my coupe was about doing an 18" wheel swap. I know most people want to go BIG on their wheels, but I didn't want to go bigger than a 19" at most and I thought if I could find a good set of 18"s then I wouldn't have to buy new tires. I like a 5-spoke design and then I finally found a set of staggered wheels to fit my car. (Trust me after a long search, there aren't that many staggered fit wheels in 18"; lot more in 19" but that was no surprise). The rims are TSW Cadwells.

I can take a little criticism (although I hope it's positive), but I really was trying to go for a sport look, without over the top bling, but at the same time setting the vehicle apart. What do you all think?

BTW, I must give props to my local dealer, Dimmitt, for going the extra mile in service and price as well.

This road I am on started at a DIY crossover gasket replacement and has in turn gotten me more intimate with my STS than I care to be. :bonkers:

First note: A P0101 code (mass airflow sensor performance) will most likely be pointing to a vacuum leak.

In replacing the crossovers you need to remove all components related to the throttle body up to the manifold. Don't try to shortcut it. I tried to reuse the spacer gasket and wound up redoing that portion of the project.

Second note: Be very careful working around the fuel lines when removing the crossover. I was less than gentle with her and wound up damaging an injector, thus causing my second vacuum leak.

Now to my question. In testing after all repairs have been made we have found the fuel pressure relief valve to be allowing a small vacuum leak. It is not really affecting performance, but will need to be replaced. I am not really in the mood to pull everything from the TB through the manifold (thus replacing intake gaskets) just to replace a $25 part that I can see, but is blocked by the power steering pump.

Anybody have any tricks up their sleeve on this one?

Interestingly, I had a B1004 code a month+ ago, and it means "Keep Alive Memory" problem. Is there a battery backup in the DIM/IPC? Before I get the DIM reprogrammed I would like to replace this battery (if it exists). The car is 11 years old so I'm sure if there is a small battery that it's finished...

Otherwise was does "Keep Alive Memory" error mean?
I suspect it is a heat related problem as it worked fine this past winter. I was wondering if any one else has had a similar problem. The control module seemed hotter than it should have, but I have no idea how to test it. Wanted to get some ideas before I spring for a new control unit. Any ideas would br greatl appreciated, thanks.

It remains to be seen if Cadillacs new offering of the XTS, ATS, etc. will draw new buyers to the Cadillac showrooms. My own suspicion is that they may bring in some new buyers, but will not make a dent in the number of other current luxury car manufacturers.

To really begin to live up to Cadillac's new slogan "The New Standard of the World" the division is going to have to do a lot better than the copycat models that they are presently bringing to market. The new models aren't going create any envy in the parking lots of country clubs and elite eateries around the country, something more will be needed to create the desire to own a "Cadillac" on the part of those that can afford the best!

Truth be told there is room for a new leader in the luxury car field. The time worn "four door coupe" designs slavish copied by Mercedes, BMW, Lexus and sadly Cadillac are "has been" objects of desire. Only the nouveau riche who would buy gold plated dog turds if it would buy them a moment's respect at their hairdresser get any satisfaction from these "trited" out, uncomfortable lookalikes!

So it is time for something to be built that will really put a desire to come into Cadillac showroom as buyers and not just curious lookers. The designs put forward in the "Manaro" show cars are certainly on the right rack. If built to a standard of quality to equal the best mass produced luxury cars they should go along way in re-establishing "Cadillac Style" and they will come!
