Climate control code retrieval...what next?

Hi all.
Ok, I see how to use the climate control to read codes in my 1991 Brougham but, I have yet to see what to do after holding down the wamer and off buttons simutaniously.
My climate control board goes to a light up of all words and signs that would display under normal use and then to double zeros with a f and c to the right. (Farinhiet and celcius). So, what is going on and what do I do next? The only thing I seem to be able to do next is adjust the temp reading up or down from there. I of course can regain the control after pushing another button, auto I think, then off and back on again.
