    '00 STS security system problems

lock doors with remote and 50% of the time the security light on the dash stays illuminated followed by the direction indicators flashing for about 10 seconds. 30 seconds later they flash again for about 10 seconds.
    this just does not stop.
unlock and relock doors and it's 50/50 if it does it again.
been round and opened and shut every door, hood, trunk and filler cap. no difference.
with door open, lock and shut to set internal sensors, still does the same thing.
    there are no codes stored.

    suggestions?

Re: '00 STS security system problems

This might not help you at all but here it is anyway. I have lost count of how many flaky intermittent problems go away after cleaning a few electrical connections. All the various modules in your vehicle depend on a constant clean source of voltage.

I would start by cleaning the chassis ground connection at the battery. That battery negative cable depends on the cable terminal surface and the bottom surface of the bolt head plus the bolt threads to make a dependable chassis connection. Surgically clean is good enough.

Battery terminals also. Terminal bolt torque is 13 lb ft.
