Automatic lighting does not work

My automatic lighting has stopped working on my 99 escalade. The lights do not come on at night at all. The daytime running lights work fine but as soon as it gets dark nothing comes on. I can manually turn them on with the light control switch. I have checked all the fuses and tested them with a meter and they all test good. I would appreciate any and all help in trying to fix this problem.

It could be the ambient light sensor on top of the dash that's bad.

could you please tell me where this part is?? also I noticed that I hear a click, the daytime running light inicator on the dash goes out, it seems like the daytime running lights stay on but the dash lights, rear ights and parking lights do not come on. ANY help appreciated

It's on top of the dash pad. Look around the defroster ducts, it's a sensor that faces up to catch the light.
