'99 STS driver's side mirror problem

Remove this ad
Whenever you start up the car, and sometimes even when you unlock the doors, the driver's side mirror seems to revert back to "default" position. It grinds its gears and tries to move up, when it's already up the highest it can go. It sounds like it isn't a great thing to be doing, plus every time you drive it you have to manually reset the mirror so you can actually use it properly. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks

Re: '99 STS driver's side mirror problem

Sometimes the position sensors go bad, it keeps trying to drive the mirror up even though it is already at the top of its travel.
Most of those are serviced by replacing the entire mirror, which you have to get painted to match the car.
An expensive proposition to say the least.

Re: '99 STS driver's side mirror problem

There was a problem with the door modules early on, so GM changed all the modules in my doors. It worked ok for awhile, then the mirrors started moving around again. I just gave up and adjust the darn things now.
