Remote Start

Does anyone know how to extend either the length of running time or the number of times the sts can be started using the remote start?
I have had remote starters for about 20 yrs now....up until now they have been aftermarket remotes which allow the car to run approx. 20 minutes with an unlimited amount of times that the remote can be used.
I live in Northern Ontario and quite often in the winter the temperature in the morning runs between -30 to -40.
The remote on the STS as well as other GM vehicles only allows the vehicle to be started a maximum of 2 times and and only for 10 minutes each time. When it's this cold, the interior of the car does not warm up enough.
Just wondering if there is a remedy for this?

Re: Remote Start

Kcryan You may be right about that, but it does take at least 1/2 hour to defrost the windows up here!

Re: Remote Start

Why is there a time limit? That makes no sense to me? Anyone know?

Apparently it has something to do with goverment regulations. However, it appears as though aftermarket remotes are not subjected to this.

Re: Remote Start

The remote is a GM installed device at the factory.
