88 seville cooling fan
I have been getting cooling fan warnings for a long time. I think the fan has finally quit altogether.
I have pulled the fan and measured the voltage at the connector. It measures about 8V with no load connected. When the motor is connected it will not turn. The fan motor will run fine with 12v connected to it, so I suspect that whatever drives the motor is bad. I found a relay that seems to be in line with the the fan, which seems to be OK. There has been some heat generated at some time where the relay plugs in, but it seems to make connection when plugged in. Pulling the relay drops the voltage at the fan connector to zero. Plugging it in brings it back up to about 8v.
Is there a way to get a schematic of the system, or a sure fire problem that causes the cooling fan to fail?
Any good service manuals out there that have good schematics to help with such problems?

Yes, the factory GM service manual. Get one thru EBAY or as a last resort order thru Helm publications. Ck for a web site.
