1998 deville AC
My ac system needs to be recharged and I need to know where the ac service port is and what kind of Refrigerant to use. Thanks

R134a. Before you add anything, you needs a good AC gauge set. The little gauge on the cans are useless, and don't tell you high side pressure.
Look for the plastic service port valve covers, look around the condenser at the front and you should see the lines.

Last time I tried it stared to lock the compressor up. Don't know if I added to much or used the wrong service port
Is it the blue cap on the condenser or the black one right above it ?

The connector on the can of refrigerant will only fit on the low side, you couldn't have hooked it up wrong.
We'd really have to know the low and high side pressures.
How do you know the compressor was locking up?

I would cut the air on and the compressor kicked on and work good for a few seconds and then the engine would start vibrating real bad and it would almost cut it self off. So I let out the refrigerant and I've been driving it for about 4 months now with the air off.

Re: 1998 deville AC
Well you better figure what is making noise/vibrating before you waste money on freon.sounds like compressor was tying up to me.

Another question. When the air was working when the fan is on it switches between the window and the vents on the dash it don't stay on just the vents like I want it to

I believe that your car still used vacuum for HVAC door control. Check the vacuum line that runs into the firewall toward the passenger side.
Does the parking brake release work ? In a vacuum car that's the telltale. 2000 ??? and later use all electric actuators and solenoids.

No my e brake quit releaseing but I replaced the vacuum hose and it still does it. I thought it was to keep the window cool or somthing.
