    1998 Concours huge electrical problem.

Hello I am new to the board but I hope I can get some help. I have been scrolling through various pages on this forum trying to find answers for my problem I recently have. I was hooking up subs and an amp to my factory deck and everything was going well. I needed to find a wire to connect my remote wire so I decided I would find just cut the plug off of the disc changer and use a hot wire from that so I can turn my car on and off and my amp will shut down with it.

Now im not sure if that caused the damage or not because I had also accidentally touched the power and ground which made some sparks but when I got in my car nothing no longer worked. I have no cooling fans running on my engine, no heater blower, no headlights, no power locks, and everytime I turn the car on and off the factory radio resets itself. It also take about 10-20 second to come on after I hit some buttons to egg it on. Th climate controls appear for a very broef moment at startup then they disappear to two lines. My automatic trunk latch will not release along with the gas cover. I have ran through all the fuses and they all seem to check out so I am hoping someone else might have some input or Ideas will be greatly appreciated.

    ----------

I should also add the gas gauge along with the Interior lamps dont work either

Either a battery and/or you have activated the TheftLock system: The original HU and wiring is part of it AND the car's serial data bus. If that's screwed up you're in deep diagnostic doo-doo.

How can I be sure if its screwed up? The factory head unit is working just fine.

If it is the theftlock system wouldnt I be able to just reset it?

This is a long shot - Disconnect the battery and leave it so for a half hour. After some time, touch the two battery cables together - not with the battery connected - just the cable terminals. Hook it up and pray.

No good ?? Use the proper car, year, model section of the sticky post ^^^ "How to pull codes" to try and pull any diagnostic codes from the car's built-in scanner system. (If you get no displays, I'm out of ideas ................ other than find a buddy with a GM scanner.)

First thing I would do is what Sub said, while you're at it undo what ever wiring you did. You very well may have tapped into the wrong wire(s). Oh and pray it works cause sounds like have made the electrical gods mad....
