wire coming from the ignition when disconnected from the coil reads 12.42 volts. when i connect it to the coil the voltage drops to 6.19 volts. no voltage out of the neg. side of the coil. do not have any spark from the coil.

found problem. not in coil, problem in the distributor. vacumm plate had a lot of movement in it. to much movement ,not alouing the points to open and close. got new distributor on the way.
