Qs about Secondary Fuse Box

Remove this ad
Hey all... I have a few modifications I'd like to do to the car, and wire everything into a switch panel. These switches would control, among other things, interior neon lighting, exterior neon lighting, (aftermarket) fog lights, CCFL "angel eyes", so on and forth.

I plan on running two wire into the switch panel - a constant 12V source and a switched "ignition" 12V source. Would I be OK using a distribition block for amp power wires?

My other question is, instead of wiring a seperate fuse link into each switch's wire, could I consolidate it into a "mini" fuse box? Do they sell those things aftermarket with room for maybe 10 or less fuses? I want something easy to get to and convenient to change the fuses. Thanks for any help you can give me!

Re: Qs about Secondary Fuse Box

For the amp power wires you need a main power wire make sure the main fuse adds up or little over the total fuses on the amps. Some people on the distro block add another fuse between the the change of wire sizes. But me personally as long as the main fuse supports the wire then your ok. For the mini fuse block radio shack sells them . And for the same thing for the small devices one switch that can handle the amerage of the devices 10a and the fuse 10amp the reason being is if one device messes up and the others not the wire will get hot because the fuse rating is too high so 10amp it from the power source run your ditro and run your seperate switches another alternative I run a wire from the cars factory fuse box fuse the wire run a distro and install youyr switches and keep your grounds hort as possible
