Hey, I have a 2004 EXT and am planning a new audio install. I have been looking for a high output alternator and all that I can find are the ones on ebay claiming 200 amps (Driving, 85-95 at idle). Anyone have any experience with these or others? I am probably going to be running to Zapco C2K amps, and probably about 2000 watts. Thanks again.
I think your factory alt is rated at 180 amps. In my experience of having two "beefed" Stinger 200 amp models on a previous vehicle the 180 amp stocker is more than enough and more stable. When I replaced mine, the stocker was rated at 90 amps-
I went to the Alldata specifications for my '00 Lade. It lists 4 options with rated outputs of 100, 105, 124, & 140 amps. From my experience, the '00 Lade probably came with the 140 amp alternator as Cadillac tended to put the best options on the vehicle. The subscription to Alldata isn't that expensive and it contains a lot of valuable information on specifications, capacities, part numbers, etc.
