Ok.. so i didnt take the time to search around the site for a similar question to solve my problem, but i am relying on the great help others have given me on this site before.
My speedometer has not worked in the 6 months i have owned my 93' Eldo touring. I finally got around to replacing the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) which is what i thought was causing the problem. It was not to dificult to replace, but it was still a pain in the ass. (above the transaxle in the passanger wheel well)
Obviously it did not work, but i will go through the details incase that helps diagnose my problem.
first of all the new part was pretty much completely the same, but it did not have a strip of metal at the bottom of the sensor, it was just plastic. I know the part works off of magnetism, so im assuming the replacement part performs its function properly.
So at the end of the job i re-attached the negative battery terminal and started the car. The speedometer moved for the first time since i owned the car... it did what seemed to be a self test, basically the needle went all the way up and back down. When i went to drive though....it didnt move at all.
No improvement.
