93 Northstar High Speed Cooling Fan

Is there a way to adjust or permanently wire the HIGH SPEED cooling fan to come on sooner - I'd prefer for the temp gauge to not get to the second hash mark past the half way mark (like 2 oclock)- in heavy traffic in 95 degree south Florida the fan comes on and she cools back down quickly but I'd prefer for it to come on sooner so as to reduce excessive expansion/contraction cycles. My AC is on essentially year round- perhaps there is way to have the high speed relay constantly be on.

Re: 93 Northstar High Speed Cooling Fan

Sounds like your fan control is normal...the engine (coolant, in this case) heats and cools 20 - 30 degrees depending on load and airflow through the radiator. Absolutely design normal. Consider what happens to the different metals in the internal parts and exhaust manifolds depending on speeds. Nothing on earth stays the same temp while creating/consuming various amounts of energy. Even electrical wiring heats and cools depending on load. Pipe dream.
