98-04 Seville IPC Backlighting

The temp needle on my 03 STS doesn't light up making it hard to see the temperature through the smoked cluster lens... I'm hoping someone is going to tell me it an easy fix, like replacing a replaceable bulb as in past vehicles...

Something tells me this is a, 'yank cluster, send out to repair, hand dealer $1000' type of problem...

Anyone???

Just went through Sec. 8 in my '02 FSM and no luck. You just might be in the trade-in business. I CAN tell you there's no way to get into the cluster unless you pull it out.

Hmmm...

New development... This morning I smacked the dash and the temp needle lit up, it didn't last though and it's out again... Now I'm wondering if it's a connection or a PCB problem... All my idiot lights work on the test at startup so it's got me scratching my head...

Well, I'm on vacatoin in a week and a half, I guess I'll dive into it then...

My cluster was doing the lighting thing, too. There are no twist out bulbs to change for the backlighting, it has to be sent out for repair/exchange at a Delco repair facility since the lighting is special.

That's what I figured... I guess I'll try to get things working next week when I'm on vacation... I got it to flicker when I hit the dash again so I guess it's a loose connectio of some sorts...
