    Add Homelink to 2003 DeVille

I would like to add a Homelink option to my 2003 DeVille. Is there anything else I have to do other than slide a unit into the slot? Will this power it up or will I need to do anything else to make it work? It has the top console lights with sunroof controls which I do not know how to realease to get inside. Thanks for any help.

Re: 2003 Deville w/o Homelink. Can I add one?

If I install a homelink and it does not work, how would I remove the homelink from my 2003 Cadillac DeVille?

    Thank you,

    Ray

This is an 8 year old thread...

Are you asking how to remove the unit from the console once installed?

He posted another question similar to this in another dead thread.

I merged your Homelink question from the other dead thread. Please keep similar questions \in the same thread and let one work for you instead of shotgunning posts in hope of more replies.

    Thanks for the consideration.

Re: Add Homelink to 2003 DeVille

There are at least 3 homelink modules thru the years. The proper one must match your type of opener. Most in the last few years are "rolling code" types and require the amber l.e.d in the slip in homelink module. Most any newer GM owners manual will walk you thru the programming sequence. To remove it I used a thin butter knife slipped in under it to depress the tang that locks it into the slot.

Re: Add Homelink to 2003 DeVille

I'm trying to do the same. From shopping around on the internet, it seems as though the buttons seem to cover a wide range of years, so I figure the one from my 2000 Seville should work in my 2003 Deville. I popped the blank cap out of the Deville and saw a plug inside. I went in the garage to my dead Seville and tried getting the buttons out of there, but they wont pop out. I tried with one of those pocket sized flat screwdrivers but no luck, can't get it to release.

Screwdriver is too narrow. A butter knife worked for me. The "door" doesnt pop out, it simply folds up as you insert the opener.
