With my girl in recovery, we spent a great deal of today laying around watching cartoons. With 'toons on my mind and boredom hovering over me, I make this thread.....

    Re: Favorite Cartoons?!

I like short comics like in news papers. I don't watch cartoons on tv.

    Dilbert is a good one...

It's still on. It's only on the Nicktoons Network though. You need like Digital Cable or Satellite to get it.

    Re: Favorite Cartoons?!

I guess these are comics rather than cartoons. My other favorite is Calvin and Hobbes.

Calvin was modeled after the Republican's 17th Century icon John Calvin(1509-64). A counterpart to John Calvin was Thomas Hobbes, the 17th Century political philosopher who had a dim view of human nature.

Haha, I was reading Johnny, Squee, and all his other comics way before that little green alien landed on earth with his hilarious defective robot sidekick. Miss DS has all the Johnny comics which I have at my disposal. Jhonen Vasquez is the greatest cartoonist in my opinion. Someone who can go ahead and create something as funny as GIR deserves mad awards. Haha.

For those not familiar, Invader Zim is about this little alien named Zim from the planet Irk who wants to be an Invader, the official title given to the foot soldiers of the Irken Military. Zim however made a horrible disaster out of his planet's original plan for universal domination by destroying most of his own planet because he got too excited driving this massive war machine robot thing and was banished to "Foodcourtia." He came back for "Operation Impending Doom 2" after he "quits" being banished," (LOL!) begs to be made an invader. The two leaders of his planet, The Almighty Tallest (Who are nothing but taller than everyone else) give him a sandwich instead. Not satisfied, Zim continues to plead, so they decide to send Zim on a fake conquering mission since he's completely reckless and incompetent to earth.

Zim lines up to receive a robot assistant along with the other invaders. The other invaders get SIR (Standard Information Retrieval) units who are advanced, loyal, and intelligent and also work as a thermos. Not wanting to waste a good SIR unit on Zim, the Tallest pull out a crappy old one, put it together, and put some lint, two pennies, and a paperclip in it's head as a brain and give it to Zim. Once the little robot boots, it introduces itself as "GIR." When Zim asks what the G stands for, GIR's serious face and red glowing eyes turn dopey and start glowing blue. GIR then answers, "I.....don't........know!" He then begins cheering and bouncing around on his head. Zim asks if it's supposed to be stupid, but the Tallest between giggles explain, "It's not stupid, it's advanced!"

Once Zim gets to earth he builds a house/base and disguises himself as a little kid. (All he does is put on a wig and put on fake eyes) He decides to be a kid since he has the same dimentions as a 10 year old and attends the local school to gather information. GIR is disguised as a green dog simply wearing a zip up suit.

The entire show is Zim's attempts to conquer the planet with several pitfalls from failed plans and random fits of incompitence from GIR.
