Question Need help on car buying....

    Hello All!!!

Would like some help as to what kind of car to recommend to someone....

This should be a new car, under 15K, very reliable and good on MPGs?
This would be a commuter car!!!

I haven't looked at cars lately so not sure what to recommend, I know a lot of people are happy with Saturn cars, as they say they are reliable good on MPGs and are around 13K to 15K...

Any help would be much appriciated, top 3 picks would work!!!
Also if you were to play, likes and dislikes if you could.....

    Thanks!!!

Re: Need help on car buying....

    Here's my top picks:

    2002-2004 Toyota Camry
    2002-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
    2001-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix

All of these cars have decent MPG plus are around $14,000. Any other preferences to narrow down the choices?

Your not going to find a new car for under $15,000, just a nice used one.

Honda Fit... 40 mpg, starts at $13,000. Kia Rio (yes, a Kia) I think it starts around 10,000.

Re: Need help on car buying....

    Some great suggestions, thanks guys....

    Yes, it should be new....
Need the car to be reliable for at least 5 to 6 years, commuting about 2,000 to 2,500 miles a month.... and it's going to be out in ShyTown so it will get all the seasons.....

No one so far said anything about the Saturns, are they good or bad.... I know that someone at work got one for around 13K breand new and they like it a lot....

I don't think a used one is something to consider, and it's not a lux car that we're going here for, just a commuter that's reliable and efficient....

Saturns are basically rebadged Opel's now. They're not quite the economy cars that they once were.

Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, Nissan Versa, Chevy Aveo

I'd go with the Aveo; it looks the best and has the nicest interior. The Fit is too utilitarian for my tastes, the Yaris has those center mounted gauges, the Versa isn't out yet...

I wouldn't buy a Yaris if only for the retarded commercials featuring them.

Dodge the Aveo. A Cobalt will get 1 less MPG on the freeway IIRC and is a much better car.

My vote is for the Cobalt also. I've heard they're pretty reliable and at $14,000, you can't beat the price! They come in two different styles; a coupe or a sedan. I personally think the coupe looks better and since it'd be a daily driver, you won't be taking any passengers so I see no need for a cramped backseat.

However, I would definetly get the LT model for $14,500 and get a few more "niceities". The SS is $17,000, but does come with a larger engine...

Nobody mentioned the Ford Focus, I've heard these are reliable and are pretty damn cheap starting at $13,000!

    LS - 12,990
    LT - 15,290
    SS - 17,490
    SS Supercharged - $20,490

If we could get the euro spec Ford Focus on this side of the pond, it would really be a much better competitor. Looks much nicer, and has better quality materials (from what I've read).

If you're buying new, you have the full warranty. So it really doesn't matter what kind of car it is.

    Good luck!

Cobalt and Fit. Two great cars. I cant remember the base price of the Mazda3, but that would be a great choice too.
