Probably because most people think of flats as these odd 1970's creations

I guess its different over here. I think 'flat' sounds modern and clean I guess its what your used to tho. That pic would be called an apartment building over here, still. Calling it 'flat' is just a 'me' quirk.

Man, I would -love- to have a garage with a back entrance! I could lay my parts and junk all over the place and no one would complain.

Here's my townhome (2 level condo). Nothing spectacular, but I love the views of the private golf course and the mountains. It's enjoyable to sit out early in the morning with a cup of coffee and watch the sun come up over the mountains. It's nothing special, but it's mine and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Our house looks unremarkable: 1.5 stories, siding over brick, about 2100 sq. ft., 3 br, 2.5 bath. 2+ car garage, full unfinished basement. What makes it special is that I designed the main floor for accessibility and care of my wife: barrier-free entry from garage and deck, large eat-in kitchen instead of a separate dining room, wood / felt backed berber / tile / vinyl floor coverings, and a very large master bath with a roll-in shower.

Ah man that's a cool thing to do!

A friend of mine is in wheels of steel and she had so much trouble with their home at first (she wasn't always disabled) and her dad pretty much had to do what you've done, all doorways had to be widened, ramps put in at the front door and in the garage, they had to build on a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, and had to make the kitchen more accessible.

It's nice to see that you could do that for your wife

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

Your place isn't too shabby either, maybe I can some to Minnesota to have some tea? I didn't know private residences needed shuttle busses!

Hell, come on over, I have an extra bedroom! My condo was basically built for me, it's the perfect size and has the perfect views. I don't want a big home yet I don't want to live in a Manhattan breakbox...

If I come up to Minnesota....can I have the Lincoln wing?

Chad and DopeStar beat me to the more palatial homesteads, so I'll post the real thing:

This is from the only snow storm (January, 2004) since I've lived here:

    The following spring:

Cruella and Betty in the garage:

Nothing fancy, although unlike some houses in the neighborhood, I have central air and a gas fireplace. But I like it, especially at 5.625%.

haha yeah, all those cars and people are there because we had a great big ball that weekend. I park all my cars in the bottom 36 car garage.
