Luxury Car appreciation thread (non Cadillac)

Other than Cadillacs, which luxury car brand(s) do you admire/respect/want.

For me it has to be Jaguar, not because they are British, but because they are Jaguars. They have a feeling like no other car, to ride in a Jaguar is to feel like royalty, I was tempted to put Bentley or Rolls Royce here, but they're for the super rich. Jaguars are for the working man who made it.

My favourite Jaguar sedans are the XJ40 (1986-94 XJ6), the XJ12 (196X-1992) and the Current Jaguar XJR/Super V8.

My favourite Jaguar Coupes are the XJ12C, and the Series III Jaguar E-Type (I would normally choose a Series I but see the terms below for my reason why not).

    Terms:

Your luxury manufacturer(s) must have produced a luxury Sedan(s), Convertible(s) or Coupe(s) with at least FOUR seats

You must give a reason why this is your favourite other than Cadillac

It would be great if you could put a picture up.

    '86-'94 XJ

    '6X-'92 XJ

    '02-PR XJ/SV8

    XJ12C

    E-Type Series III Coupe

    So, What's yours?

Is the Acura TL the one that's like a Honda Legend?

Big fan of Lincoln, though I've only owned two, and both are now over forty years old. I had a '66 Continental and a '59 Lincoln. LOVED them both...but, alas, they are gone...

Re: Luxury Car appreciation thread (non Cadillac)

The Acura TL is not classified as a "Luxury Car" ~ with a price of $37,000, it's hardly more than a loaded Buick LeSabre.

My two "other" favorites 'ya all know. Lincoln & Imperial

On the "foreign front" I'd have to go with (in order):-

    1. Jaguar S-Type "R"; and XJ
    2. Volvo S-80
    3. Audi A8 & S8
    4. Acura RL
    5. Saab 9.5 AERO

Regarding Reason(s) that McCombie asked for, I've owned 3 Lincolns & 6 Imperials and found each
to be as good as a Cadillac, and never had a "lemon".
The 5 foreigners I've never owned, but I like the style and the "presence" each has (granted
all very different) on the road.

    Nice choices there Sandy.

How about the Quattroporte then? I knwo its pushing luxury vs performance, but I think it competes against the Jag 'R well..

I currently own a Lincoln Town Car and while it has given me some problems, I found myself missing it when I was in Michigan last week picking up my SLS. I also owned a 1980 280se Mercedes before and it was nice car.
Other luxury cars I wouldn't mind having would be:
300C, New Imperial(or a 1960's model), 750i(??)BMW, Jaguar Vanden Plas(xj6/xj12??), New Town Car, Rolls Royce Phantom, and the Maybach 57 or 62 series.

I like those old square bodied Town Cars Addison. I forgot all about Maybach, althuogh I think the Maybach is the most misunderstood car in the world.

ALL JAGS! The X-type is even nice from afar.

    My Q

Biased I am! Broad shoulders and a muscular rear end.

    Lincoln LS

Love how the grille dips into the bumper and the sides have broad shoulders.

    W124 Mercedes-Benz

Sculpted from a chunk of granite. The last tri-star product that mattered.

    Acura NSX

Does this count as luxury? Its definitely a luxury item. Gimme a targa!

    Mazda 929

Long, long, low, and low. The dashboard sweeps around the driver and features aluminum accents, wood, and an analog clock. Looks stunning in person.

I'm with McCombie on the Jags - there is nothing like the road feel of an XJ. However (and I think Sandy will agree) the sweetest Jags of all are from an era long past:

I also have to throw in a vote for the 1973-76 Lincoln Mark Series, particularly the Cartiers and Givenchy designer lines. That long hood and low window line made for an especially fine driving experience on the open road.

I've always loved the BMW 760Li. When you see somebody driving one of these you just KNOW they're loaded beyond belief.

Like the Jags but love the S Class Benz's. Always wanted a W140 and now I have one. Everything I thought it would be and more.
