I recommend that everyone own an inexpensive small-battery load tester. Mine came from Radio Shack about 15 years ago and I use it to test all sorts of batteries including button style.Testers have the proper value resistances inside them to measure batteries and cells under load. When something isn't working properly I pull the batteries and measure them. Half the time only one is bad. I then save the old batteries in a coffee can until I have enough to make it worth stopping at a battery store to recycle them.
Once I went Eneloop I never thought about going back to typical NiMH batteries.
