    Calling on Canadians!

Back in 1958 I went on a vacation trip with my mother and father which started in the Thousand Island area of the of New York and went on to Montreal and Quebec City and then on down the St. Lawrence River into Nova Scotia and the Gaspe Peninsula. It was one of the best vacations my family had ever had combining really beautiful scenery with very good food (even the little roadside restaurants had great food). The scenery was very different from anything I had experienced in the U.S. and I have often thought I would like to make a return trip someday.

I am wondering if this is still a good trip to make? What towns and sights you would especially recommend and what time of year is best to make this trip. Any advice and insight about this area of Canada would be most appreciated.

The trip is still great. You can do it by train, as well (and it's nice). The farther north go (up the St Lawrence), the earlier the leaves will change. I would think early October, but there will be a website out there somewhere that has the data...

LMK when you're going by my place! 1/2 between Thousand Islands and Montreal.
