    I've seen this before. I assume they smartened up and changed the name before releasing the new model.

    My 2006 CTS had a Catera label on the grill too. Though I can't remember if it was on the original factory grill, or the factory sports grill that I now have installed.

    This is old news that was hashed over ten years ago.

    Just a name; had Cadillac kept the name and substantially upgraded the product, I think it would have been a: 'so what'. One quick example of keeping a seemingly 'crap' name (and making lemonade) could be the Sonata.

    I suspected it but SO many folks just seem dead set that the CTS was never a Catera so I wanted to show the hard evidence I have that proves otherwise.

    Re: Proof! 1st Gen CTS Was Known as "Catera" Internally to GM!

    CTS= Catera Touring Sedan
    That's obvious. What else would the C stand for. All you CTS owners are driving a Catera.

    STS= Seville Touring Sedan
    ETC= Eldorado Touring Coupe
    DTS.......

    STS was Seville Touring Sedan only until '03. The '05 + STS acronym is S series Touring Sedan. '06+ DTS is D series Touring Sedan... If you look hard enough, you can find GM press releases explaining the acronyms.
