If I'm spending $65G on a fast pony car, its a Z28, hands down. No way on a boat that only has a big hp #, not actually any drivability...

Crazy power and a supercharged hemi is bad a**, but you know it isn't gonna corner for a damn......id rather have a Nissan GTR Nismo

Why would you spend 65k on car that doesn't haven't A/C, power locks/windows standard?

If you need to ask that question you would not understand.

    ----------

I don't mean that in a mean way, it's just that the person buying this car is not your typical Daily driver he is buying this car for one reason, to take to the track. You want to keep the weight down and A/C, Power anything, Radio all adds weight.

If you want to keep weight down, you wouldn't start with a new Camaro anyways. The Z/28 is still 3837lbs. Main reason its such a beast on the track are the tires, 305/30/R19 R compound racing tires. Here's a picture of them. Wouldn't want to drive these in the rain with a little wear on them.

The suspension calibration and carbon cermaic brakes(same tech on a Ferrari, Lambo, Audi R8, etc) are also pretty trick, and its amazing what GM engineers have wrung out of the chassis.

Still, for 75k, I'd much rather have a new Vette, it posts similar lap times on tires that will get you home in the rain and last 20,000 miles or more.

But it's 2014 98% of cars will have these options standard.... And for the price you can buy a lot ore cars that are just as fast or faster (ZL1 for starters) if you want an old muscle car style car then drive an old muscle car

Or drive something properly light like a Lotus Elise, Miata, etc. Saving 100lbs by stripping out the a/c and heat makes a huge difference on something like a 2200lb Miata that's low on power, 3700 vs 3800 lbs with 500hp, you aren't going to feel the weight difference IMO. No A/C in a black Z28 in the middle of August, on a car you just spend $75k on, I will label you masochist with a bad case of swamp a@@. Which is fine, if that's your thing.

Heh, I saw that post earlier and had to refrain...back in the 60's, you could go all the way with Chrysler, including no sound insulation, no door panels, etc. from the factory. It was market genius IMO.

    Well.... update.

    Hellcat is $59,900.

And runs 10 second quarter mile OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR.

    I'll take two!

    *sigh* Someday.

I wonder what the new Z06 is going to do in the quarter. I know it will be more than the Hellcat but it would just be interesting for comparison.

Thumbs up for GM NOT publishing the numbers until Chrysler did...

    Let the race continue!
