A Lincoln that I could be enthusiastic about.

    http://www.caranddriver.com/news/lin...ept-auto-shows

This is the first thing I've seen from Lincoln in years that looks like a Lincoln instead of a Ford re-badge(aka modern-day Mercury). Will they build it? I have no idea, and I'm not holding my breath, but if they did, Lord help us!

    ----------

Now, I've been ragging on Lincoln lately like nobody's business, but this MKR concept gives me a little bit of hope. I just hope we get a better name for it. Continental, Town Car, anything besides yet another "MK"!

Glad you didn't start holding your breath when that article was published which was ~7 years ago.

I know, but I'd heard some buzz about this thing recently. Maybe Lincoln will revisit the idea now, since they're in pretty deep need of ideas.

I wish Lincoln would get rid of the Disney version of a jacko'lanterns smile for a grill. Looks like a car driven by Ichabod Crane!

It looks like a chrome version of the Mr. Peanut mustache. Ugh. Smaller version could work. Current version looks like grille teeth.

Looks to me like they aren't bothering to teach anything but grill design at the Art Center for Design; all the cars seem look like shorter or longer versions of the same car! The MKR looks very much like the, supposedly, new Cadillac coupe. Which one came first ..... who knows, who cares ..... yawn!

Re: A Lincoln that I could be enthusiastic about.

We can speculate that if the CV ever returned, the Town Car would follow behind.

But then, one must remember Ford's methods. They started out with this:

    Turned it into THIS:

And though they released the "Interceptor" concept, the Fusion was the last we ever heard of the 427's concept design.

I daresay, the likelihood of us seeing THIS, doesn't seem remarkably great, either.

I feel that may haps a Continental design more related to the 2002-2005 Ford Thunderbird was plausible, though personally, I am not particularly a fan of the execution of that design to begin with.

Four corners and a formal roof, I'm in!

Also would pass my "throw a sheet over it and you can still tell what car it is" test!

I have to go now take my cans in to the recycling center, Ford needs F150s.....

I've long fancied the early 80s Continentals (82-84), whose styling almost bears a resemblance to the slant-backed Sevilles of the same era. Only Lincolns I've ever liked.

Yeah. That thing won't happen. Literally zero mention of it in years. Lincoln is a wasteland. The gap-toothed super Expedition, erm... Navigator, is as good as you get.
