I have had two unexplained experiences with what may have been ball lightning and am wondering if anyone else has seen this phenomenon.

Not ball lightning - but quite a few with St. Elmo's Fire, primarily at sea or on survey towers.

Re: Has anyone had any experience with "ball lightning?"

Not with Ball Lightning, but I have had many experiences with Will-O-The-Wisps in the past. This does not happen often in Florida or Nevada, I would imagine. Hence my lack of witnessing this occurring there.

This is not to be confused with the aforementioned Saint Elmo's Fire, which bears far more resemblance to the Friar's Lantern or the Hobby Lantern.

Will-O-The-Wisps are sentient, yet ethereal entities. Sometimes, they are regionally called Jack-O-Lantern. They forewarn mankind of impending doom or guide them to their fate (be it their mortal fate in death or their upright and proper Destiny)

Statistically, they seem to favour deep forests. The kind with enough trees to hide the sunlight and leave a heavy darkness at all times of day. In this way, they are not unlike Hinkypunk, but Hinkypunk have entirely separate motives and favour moors or bogs. Somewhat like Nixie.

Sometimes, they are also associated with the Ignus Fatuus, but in truth, Ignis Fatuus is primarily a raw energy, which can be harnessed. In mythical history, the great Petranole had found that those corrupted by other energies, such as the aura Chaos (Not the English definition. Rather, a void-like emptiness) or other evil energies, usually trapped to possessed articles, typically weapons, could wield Ignis Fatuus as if it were a physical form. Naturally, their humanity had long-since been sacrificed and they were little more than puppets, controlled by these same forces, often growing into inhuman monsters after being steeped in enough blood or life energy. This transference of spirit was in turn feeding the entity that was in possession of them.

I was told in my youth to not follow Will-O'-The-Wisps. Like many things I was told, I went on to disobey this advice. Looking back on my life, I would make the same choices.

Orconn, you start some of the most interesting threads.

No. I don't let my balls stand under trees in storms.

Boxers made from an embedded micrometallic weave will protect against that however, they will rust when you wash them

    Best answer!

The judges would also have accepted: I lighten mine as often as possible.

    I gotta raise my game.

I'm training hard for Orconn's upcoming threads about cotton balls, Herbal cures, highballs and external ballistics.

    ....and those soft seats!

I have a lot of fun at work when customers ask me if I have tennis balls...."No, but I have had tennis elbow."

Dave, you must go absolutely wild when customers ask if you have a "ball cock!"
