Re: Where are you and whats your Temperature??

Today it got up to around 50 degrees and it's raining nice and solid... It's a great thing, because we really need it. All of the lakes in this region are just about dried up. Emigrant Lake, Applegate Lake, Lost Creek, Shasta, Folsom, and all of them are so low you can see the bottom, and we've already got red flag fire warnings this year. That's bad considering those are normally seen in late summer. There was a 125 acre fire near here last week. It's tiny, but that should NOT happen in January. So far this has been the driest winter on record. I'm hoping we get some good solid rain here soon because if not, this region is going to light up like nothing else this summer...

Currently 28 degrees in Houston. Thankfully dry today...I know those type of conditions, but am concerned that a lot of folks in South Texas do not...

4 inches of snow here with 25 degrees, that half inch of ice under the snow is a real bastard around here. I ain't going out, these tards will kill you around here. Suppose to be 7 here tonight, it's only been that cold once since the early 90's here. I'm moving south.... way south.

I can't believe this. After 6 years of having the smokers go outside to smoke. They are now allowed to smoke in a room that is attached to the cafeteria. All because it's too cold outside.

I feel no petty for them as I was a smoker for 10 years. It's been 4 years since I've had one. But the fact is I am still considered a smoker for 40 hours a week, work at a casino.

Granted the other two cafeterias each have a smoking section. The newest one, opened in 2008, was supposed to be all non smoking.

If this place wasn't on Indian reservation. Then this entire place would be non as per state law. :-/

Being an ex smoker you should understand the craving. A bit heartless.

I used to smoke when I lived in Vermont and had to smoke outside. I would have loved to go inside when the temps dropped down to below zero but that didn't happen.

Take solace in the fact that when it warms up they will be social pariahs again.

I should of said that myself. When I was a smoker, I too had to go outside. Sure it was cold, windy, wet (snow or rain). But I didn't expect to handy a silver platter to be allowed to smoke inside. I dealt with it, might of bitched the first few times. But realized that I'm the one who's addicted to smoking.

Re: Where are you and whats your Temperature??

I actually liked smoking outside when it rained as long as there was an overhang. Something about sucking in smoke while in the fresh air outside was kind of nice.

I know, it doesn't make any sense!

Re: Where are you and whats your Temperature??

Actually, it does make sense Rob....................to a smoker (or ex-smoker). I always enjoyed it more outside when cold. It's only been a year and a half, but that's where I miss it most. Tomorrow is supposed to be near 30 and I'm going goose hunting for the last time (season closes the next day), but that's where I'll miss the smoke, out in the field.
