Question If you had to choose a Vette?

Often, from the general media, I get the impression America has made and makes only two cars, the Ford Mustang and the Corvette. So if you had to choose the latter, which generation would it be?

For me it's the C3. It was longest running (1968-82), had the biggest motor (454ci), biggest sales year (53,000 in 1979) and out acted Mark Hamill!! Lol. But for sporty I think I would still get a SD 455 Trans Am.

    Interesting question.

The two high water marks in Corvette styling IMO were the 1959 and the C3. Not being into performance cars I can't see myself really enjoying driving either one. I think if I were ever to actually buy one I would go for the much maligned C4.

I always liked the plainer styling, and they were already loading them up with the luxury toys I am so used to. They are the cheapest to buy and I think a loaded convertible would be the car for me.

None, for me Corvettes always felt like driving around in a high powered bath tub! As far as looks go I like the '56-'57 best. The quad headlights just never looked right on the early Corvettes.

Re: If you had to choose a Vette?

LOL. I remember when Corvette Summer came out and I was thinking that was the best car I had ever seen. Now I think oh my god what were they thinking, I wouldn't be caught dead in that car. Awesome car for the era and screams 70's.

As for my favorite older vette I would go with the C2. I really like the lines, big block with a Muncie would be an awesome car to dirve.

The latest C6 was just an awesome car. I really like the Z06 in a cyber gray metallic

I am waiting for a New Z06 (or maybe it will be called the Z07) but this would be the car I would want most. (base stingray pictured)

The C1 was an awesome car but a little underpowered for my taste. The early model C3s were nice looking cars as well. Koooop has a Vette I wouldn't mind owning...

BTW, MUST be a manual gear box.

    Corvette Summer? Disgusting. Hideous. Nasty.

    I'll take a C5 or C6 Z06...

'96 C4 LT4/6speed coupe in Dark Purple with black interior, or Bright Aqua with light grey interior.

Or a 35th Anniversary edition, ruby red, coupe or convertible.

Re: If you had to choose a Vette?

I have never been one for Corvette's; as Orconn said they are much akin to sitting in a large bathtub and I will always choose a 911 over any 'Vette but I will say I did 130 miles in a C6 Convertible with the 6 speed and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The ride was quite good and I averaged 27MPG for the trip. Quite impressive for a car with so much power and boy it had plenty of that.

But having already seen the C7 in person that would be my choice. What a fantastic looking car.
