Car related? Elizabeth (my first 77 CDV) was stolen and destroyed. God help the SOB if I ever lay hands on his sorry ass.

Been hit by 3 Drunk drivers over the years, wife hit by at least 2...must be a magnet... No injuries except a few bruises.
The worse I inflicted on myself was leaving an unopened can of soda in the car during the winter....that S*&^ went everywhere, took forever to clean that light blue cloth interior in a TA.

Re: Worst stuff that happens to us...-VENTING WELCOME-

I had just driven from Los Angeles to Decatur, IL in my Jaguar XK 150 drop head coupe. No problems along the way. It was Sunday, on my way to my uncle's house, I had encountered an old man who had fallen down in the street. I stopped and called the police and emergency from a house nearby (no cell phones in those days). Finally got to my uncle's place and went for a ride in his new MGB. My uncle was a speed freak and he got the MGB going as fast as it would.

When we got back from the ride in the MGB, Uncle Bob wanted to drive my Jag, so off we went again. He was having trouble shifting the old Moss box (many people had trouble getting used to those gear boxes), so we switched drivers and I was again at the wheel. I had just pulled away from a stop sign on a twisty country road when a 1955 Plymouth Savoy came around a blid corner on my side of the road. I managed to swerve and miss a full head on crash, but the Plymouth hit my Jag just in from of the driver's door, crunching on down the side of the car and displacing the rear axle and needless to say destroying the wire wheel. The Jag was sent spinning out of control wiping out a "No Passing" road sign and ending up in a pasture.

As bad as it was, my two uncles really did come to my rescue. Uncle Bob sued the bar where the kid had been drinking prior to the accident and I received $1500. for the loss of my Jag. It was the first suit to be made under Illinois new "Dram Shop Law" which held drinking establishments liable if the inebriated customer had an accident after drinking to excess at the establishment. It took awhile for the case to tried and adjudicated in my favor, but I won and eventually received the money for the lost Jag.

Of more immediate concern to me, was how I was going to get to the Univ. of Wisconsin without a car. My other uncle, Ralph, came to my rescue and sold his very nice 1962 Cadillac 62 convertible to me (not a big sacrifice as he ahd an extensive collection of other cars). I wouldn't have picked it out, but the car got me where I needed to go and turned out to be a much better choice for dealing with a Wisconsin Winter than my Jag. Had many great sleigh rides in the snow with that car!

Never had another serious accident, knock on wood, since !966 when I lost the Jag.

I broke a valve spring and dropped a valve in the Z28 302 engine with AFR heads in my '66 El Camino at about 7000 RPM. The forged piston in that hole won the battle and shoved the valve through the head. There was a cloud of Prestone fog from shoulder to shoulder on the highway.

Some hoodlum put a lit cigarette out on the sail panel of my Brougham's vinyl roof.

Some people absolutely cannot stand to see others with something well-maintained and nearly flawless.

Another bast@rd tossed the ice from his fast food cup out of his car window as he passed me - hitting my grille, hood, and windshield. I almost took down his license plate with the intent of calling the police.

I never knew my Brougham would anger so many people.

Too much work trying to remember the bad times. Way too many good times pushed any bad memories into some basement filing cabinet of the mind. I'm guessing that's somewhat age related since the longer you live the more good times you've had plus with experience the self imposed bad times become very few and far between.

When I joked about making this thread, I was thinking more along the lines of all the crap that happens to you (not just your car)....I will be posting here OFTEN as I have stories for days with pics to back them up, lol...

Any rate, since it was started with cars, here's my wife's first Eldorado....about 10 years ago it got attacked by a possum...sorta'. Possum ran out in front of the car and got stuck in the wheel well, wife drove off the road and "bounced" off of two telephone poles and a few street signs. Ripped the wheel off of the back when she slid sideways...

I have more I'll post later...

I hydroplaned in the rain in my 97 safari and took out a hyundai. Shoved my core support back 2 inches. Also punted the hyundai like a football and dented my hood with its bumper.

Then there's this: the fate of the cutlass mini wagon. I miss that car. It was a great mini wagon.

Other car didn't fare well either
