Using a pocket calculator and the posted graph I came up with a price for my STS that was only $150 less than the below site.

Take the guesswork out of this mindless exercise - use this ................

You know what I used that for? I have always wondered how much that teacher on the Breakfast club really made. He was bragging about 33K a year and I was making that in college (when I first saw it) so it always seemed off to me. Now I know he would be making about 71K in todays dollars! LOL Now it doesn't seem so lame!

1996 Cadillac Sedan DeVille in 1996 dollars, new: $36,544 (and the friggin WY DMV uses THIS for licensing )
1996 Cadillac Sedan DeVille in 2012 dollars, new: $52,798.18

1996 Cadillac Sedan DeVille in 2012 dollars, GOOD KBB private party: $2,840
1996 Cadillac Sedan DeVille in 1996 dollars, GOOD KBB Private party: $1,948.52

For funs, my Dad was able to go to skools for $750 a semester during the late 1980s (we will use 1987 as a base referral year). That is $1500 a year. We will use 16 credit hours for reference. Rates are based on In-state students.

University of Wyoming tuition (16 credit hours) in 1987 dollars: $1,500
University of Wyoming tuition (16 credit hours) in 2012 dollars: $2,983.99
Univeristy of Wyoming tuition (16 credit hours) in 2013 dollars: $3456

Dad was able to pay for EVERYTHING (food, books, house) with that $1,500. The $3,456 for me gets class ONLY.

Guess I should shut up and be happy I can get two jobs over the summer, and the RA thing during the school year. I'm one lucky dude

Wow. I just looked up the 1989 Toyota Camry my step dad bought brand new for 20k. It was a fully loaded model. V6, sunroof, all that, and that comes out to 36900 or so in today's money. Course he traded a Mercedes 450 SEL for it too.

Yes, I am still very much in love with a fantastic woman who loves me. Hoover's doing great, and I have a new kitten who's adorable when he's not running amuck. Last autocross was about a month ago; I don't think I have another until sometime in August. Have been very busy with freelance work and teaching summer classes when I'm not spending as much time as I can with Nancy.

Life is good. My best to you and Karen.

Re: What would your car cost new today?

Just looked up my '84 CDV and my '93 SDV. Looks like Al (the '84) costs about $18,798 when new, and in 2012 dollars that is about $40,898!!! Holy Crap!

Chives ('93) was around $35,960 when new, and in 2012 dollars it is $56,277!! Wow!

I can't believe how huge a gap that is for both cars.

(Since my Challenger is newer, she only had about a $1,750 difference between 2009 and 2012.)

Mom had a yellow lab and a tabby kitten - the two were inseparable. It truly was a Mutt & Jeff act.

Actually it has nothing to do with that, but I've never made the connection until now. So well done, Dave!

You know how people riding in your car (especially Cadillacs, for some reason) like to say "Home James"? Well my brother climbed in one day and says "Home Chives". I asked "Chives?" and he says "Yep, Chives." I liked the name, especially since it is a greenish color, and it stuck. It's like a fancy butler!
