Yea I did test drove an 11 accord and it just didn't do anything for me. It was the EX but not the EX-L, so no leather but it had a sunroof n all that. But it was VERY boring to drive. About 6 years ago I test drove an 06 accord, both fully loaded EX-L's, one with the 4 cyl and one with the 6. I enjoyed both of them. Even back in 06, the 4 was a quick little engine for such a larger car. Of course the 240 hp V6 was even more fun. Lol. But I even thought the generation b4 the 08's looked better inside and out than the 08-12. To me, I always felt as though Honda took a huge step backwards in 08 with that accord.

We had a few 2006-07 Accord EX-V6's in stock at work since I've started there two months ago. I enjoyed driving both of them. The V6 in them is super smooth, sounds sweet and is really quick, making for a fun to drive experience. I like the smooth, polished look of the 2003-07 body style, and I'd really considered buying one of them instead of leasing, but decided against it because they were both out of the warranty and would take more fuel than the model I bought.

My grandmother had a '92 LX that looked just like the one pictured above with blue cloth interior. She previously had an '85 Accord that she told me she preferred to the '92. The '92 was sold to my aunt and she purchased the '00 Camry we still have to this day.

My step mom had a 1988 accord hatch back 5 SPD that she REALLY enjoyed. Bought it brand new and put close to 300k on it. Then they traded it for a brand new 04 civic and still have that car. But her 88 was apparently the last year for the hatchback accord.

Re: "So your girlfriend rolls a Honda, playin' workout tapes by Fonda"

Like I said earlier, my dad's dad always owned Hondas starting in the late '70s. First up was a '79 Prelude, then an '85 Accord, then an '87 Accord, then a 1990 or 1991, then a 1994 (that's the one I remember most) and the last one I remember him having was like a 2003 or so.

At work, we recently took in a 1991 Accord LX Sedan with 51k miles on it. One owner, old lady car with a lot of bumper rash, but otherwise very clean. It smelled like a funeral home inside, but the interior was spectacularly clean. We had it listed at $4495 and it sold in ONE day.

I almost drove it, but just as I was about to take it around the block, I had a customer show up so I had to park it back. That generation Accord was known for it's great visibility and go-kart feel. With it's low beltline and low dashboard, visibility was 2nd to none which made the driving experience fantastic.

    Nicely sculpted rear! (heh, heh)

My stepbrother has an 01 Accord coupe, black with those nifty NSX-inspired tail lights. It is, unfortunately, an auto and it sometimes shows the dreaded blinky lights, but it continues to chug along smoothly and quietly, feeling more like a Lexus than a standard car. I took it from St Louis to Denver and enjoyed the ride and V6 acceleration.

Chad, I belong to two Accord forums. One is a Toronto forum, which I used for their classified section.
The main group I used for advice on issues was http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1
    O
wning older Accords, this forum helped me with CEL's and small issues.

I guess I have owned a few Honda's ... 15 so far, mostly Accords and Preludes.

    Last year, I owned a 2001 V6 with 50k, and an 04 EXL with only 20k.
Coming directly from a 2007 Camry, I felt the Accord had a much nicer, freer reving motor, better plastics, sportier handling, but also had higher NVH levels.

Directly comparing the 01 to the 04, I preferred the 01. Better soft touch materials, the best sight lines in the business, and I loved that little V6 engine. I also preferred the simpler controls on the 01. Honda put way too many small buttons on the dash of the 04. For eg., on the 01, there was a large round knob to switch the ventilation modes, located up high. On the 04, this dial was replaced with a miniscule button, located way down on the center cluster. Everytime I drove the car, I would hunt to find this button.
It never came naturally, never felt intuitive.
Too bad, that used to be a Honda trademark, intuitive controls, where a stranger could feel at home within a few minutes of driving the car.

I have yet to drive the current gen Accord, but I really want to. Every magazine article considers the new Accord to be the benchmark that other full size cars are judged.
I'm afraid I'll be lured into purchasing one, and I only buy used cars at this stage in life, trying not to incur car debt of any kind.
Problem with Accords is it's tough to find a deal on a used one ... retained value is too damn high.

^^^^ That's very true, I was just looking, for fun, to compare a 2008 DTS with moderate mileage with an Accord of the same mileage. The two cars were within a few hundred dollars of each other in price. I was surprised. When my son and I were looking to get him an Accord for college we looked a few used ones and decided, all things considered, it was better to lease him a new one.

I paid $5k for my pristine Deville. Good luck trying to find a nice Accord of similar vintage for less than $8k in decent shape with the same miles!

^ I agree that used Hondas are for the most part a rip-off, especially at the bottom end of the market. People want(and get) $5,000 all day long for abused, not maintained, 10 year old pieces of junk with 150-200k miles on them.

How is it a ripoff when that's the actual value? Buy it, drive it and sell it yourself. Get your "ripoff" money back. What's the problem?
