Good question - ask a European - they do it (to other cars) all the time.

Re: Can our Northstar Cadillacs be converted to run on LPG?

There was a LPG conversion center in Arizona, and I knew the owner. As I spoke with him (I didn't want to convert my STS, I was curious), he said that it should be OK, and there shouldn't be any problem. The main advantage is that it is cheaper, and it produces less pollution. The drawbacks are it may result in a little bit of loss of power, and the gas tank may and will waste half of your trunk space. Most of cabs in Sun valley area, including 90% of Ford CVs and Town Cars are converted to LPG and they work just fine.

Liquified Petroleum Gas = propane = LPG
    Compressed Natural gas = CNG

Actually it was very reasonable, and I believe some states and cities offer high incentives for conversion.

Re: Can our Northstar Cadillacs be converted to run on LPG?

There aren't many Northstar Cadillacs (and Cadillacs in general) in Poland. But some of those that exist here, have LPG. I just checked on our local ebay and here it is - an offer of Cadillac STS V8 with LPG. http://allegro.pl/cadillac-sts-sevil...250390441.html
I sometimes read articles about engines that work with LPG well and which don't and usually they don't recommend LPG to norhstars and new V6 Cadillac engines.

Thanks for the feedback - Good to hear from someone who's on-scene as opposed to merely speculating.

In various cities around the U.S. there are public transportation buses and utility vehicles running on CNG. I have no idea of/if there's any economy involved.

Re: Can our Northstar Cadillacs be converted to run on LPG?

You're welcome. As far as CNG is concerned, it's less popular/accessible in Europe than LPG in the U.S. The installation is expensive and more complicated than LPG. The tanks add more extra weight than LPG tank. One litre of LPG costs here around 80 cents which is still two times less than regular gas (it used to be much cheaper but nowadays the taxes are higher). Basic LPG installation costs here around one thousand dollars. But more sophisticated engines need pricier devices. They can cost up to 5 grand and more so only richer guys can afford them. But in my opinion LPG in better, premium cars looks silly. I desire to own a CTS coupe and I would never install LPG in it. If I want to save on fuel I take a bus

I found another STS with LPG

    http://sprzedajemy.pl/cadillac-sts-4...-20cali,961361

it says it uses 'STAG 300' system.

    Hi,
I've planned on converting my 2000 STS to Liquid propane/LPG injection by using an Icom jtg2 set that I've ordered last week. I hope to start the install in a couple of weeks. For more info: www.icomnorthamerica.com The links on the site are very interesting. The brand is of Italian origin: www.icomitalia.it/old_site/

At winter temperatures around here you have to heat the tank to get the gas out of it. Otherwise it seems to work OK.
