It's a joke I heard back in the 70's. I just personalized it. LoL

Back then? Hell, you can get them now. At least here, you can.

Still wouldn't advise putting rockets on a car in an effort to test the worth of this story.

I can tell the tech in Radars has imrpoved I get less time to react, I'm sure detector being 7yrs old ain't helping either.
I usually only turn it on when going somewhere not familiar with so I don't get a small town ticket when I miss a sign.

I bought a Beltronics RX65 to replace my older Escort. Most of the time when I see Connecticut State Police on the side of the road the detector doesn't even go off. Sometimes I see them with the radar gun and the detector goes off sometimes. Out of state is when it normally goes off.

In a somewhat related topic, been thinking about getting one of those translucent license plate covers that is supposed to block speed cameras from photographing your plate. Anyone have one, know if they are effective? Anyone get any hassle from the fuzz for putting one on your car? I know Myth Busters did a program covering them and reported that they are ineffective, but I sometimes question their adherence to the scientific method; I also find it hard to believe that if they were actually effective that they would broadcast on cable television, "Yes this works! If you don't want to get speeding tickets, just put this on your car!"

My friend had one on each of his plates on his Intrigue. Cop pulled him over once and gave him a verbal warning to remove them. Got pulled over again and got a ticket. (This is in CT btw)

I agree with that. There's no need to have such a device unless you're going to do something you shouldn't be doing.

Ah! You guys are all wimps ..... radar detectors, humbug! Real men fight the speed Nazis with shear cunning and guts. If you can't afford the cost of ticket, don't speed. If you can and enjoy the challenge .... go "rogue" (as our patroness Sarah of the North) would say.

I mean, would a bull fight be exciting or even worth watch if the matador wore body armor?

Be a man, go rogue and stealthily out wit the LEOs at their own game!

I find my radar detector to be an effective reminder to watch my speed. Awareness is step one.
