I will say I love owning the worst looking POS on the block. I also love that my little truck gives me 25-27mpg. I'd love to own a full size pickup, but on a tight budget my little Toyota's flawless reliability, great gas mileage, and $600 purchase price have served me a lot better, and allowed me to buy a much nicer primary vehicle.

What the hell happened to this thread. I have an awesome suburban, cost me about $800 and I dropped it off at my mechanics to get some new hoses and haven't seen it since Sunday, and even better I don't care. I really like it and I have a craving to get one in better shape (this one is real clean, but I am picky) just to have for kicks and grins.

Hell yea man! That is by far my favorite of all the suburban body styles! I'd love to find an all original 2 tone half ton 90-91 4x4. Such a sweet looking truck!

Is it weird that my 3/4 ton suburban has a with the biggest engine available has a smaller engine than my Cadillac?

No, of course not. A Cadillac should have the largest V-8 of any GM brand.

Hey, so how does that 454 stack up to the 500 in terms of power and feel? Does one feel significantly more powerful than the other.

    If I'm not mistaken, the 454 is 230hp whereas the 500 is 190hp. The 454 is 385 lb/ft and the 500 is 360 lb/ft.

you are correct. Cadillac feels anemic and underpowered, always have IMO. The suburban is suprisingly speedy. It had four gear ratio's for the rear end available with the 454 so I am thinking it is either 4:10 or a 4:56 as the thing gets up to speed quick and feels like pure power until you hit 80, then it feels like it needs another gear. I have not had a chance to look up the codes on the SPID so I have no idea what rear end it has yet. It really does drive like a brand new truck though. It is really wierd truck. Manual rear window with no rear defroster, no tape deck and Silverado trim with no third row seat.

Edit: I just looked up the SPID code GT4 on the label and it appears to have only a 3:73 with a G80 posi. Swear it was a taller gear based on the driving impressions.
