    Re: What do you collect?

Records are a thing of mine, too. Love them. Just picked up this set. Absolutely PERFECT condition. They look like they've never been played. 6 disc set of original Glenn Miller recordings. All of the greats. It's an RCA set. Practically stole them at an antique store in the obscure little town of Cashmere in the North Cascades.
They played really well right out of the box, even before cleaning. They were a little dark, so I swapped the Grado cartridge for my Ortofon cartridge. Lightened it right up, and it sounds like you're back in 1941 listening to Tex Beneke in person.

Congrats! Finds like that don't come along very often. Hardly ever for notable jazz artists from 40's, 50's, and early 60's on the old Blue Note, Prestige, Verve, Impluse and Columbia Labels.

I really need to find a Sinatra record... I'm angry at myself for not having one. I've been having great luck recently with antique store finds. Maybe I'll find one soon.

Wish ya luck! I'm keeping a keen eye open for some affordable vintage Dean Martin vinyl.

I'm curious what it would sound like if I were to buy some brand new LPs. I'm very tempted. How Adele would sound on virgin vinyl might be interesting.

I bet if I looked hard enough I might be able to find a 200g Adele 21 LP. Probably won't be cheap. At all.

I've bought some nice sounding reissued LP's @ http://www.soundstagedirect.com/jazz...FQZtKgodWTfXVg Just don't care for reissues that have been so called, "Remastered from Mono to Stereo".

    Re: What do you collect?

I used to collect vintage table lamps, furniture, etc. Didn't really mean to start collecting that stuff, but I kept finding really cool, funky stuff at thrift and antique stores. I most enjoyed finding 1950's atomic style lamps. My favorite was one that looked like the Seattle Space Needle. Probably my favorite because it was one of the cheapest. $5 at a Goodwill. Unfortunately I sold pretty much all of that stuff when we started preparing to move. Here's some of the craziest examples...

I have an unusual sense of humor and would love to see the expression on people's faces when they came over. This stuff is so campy and tacky that it can't help but illicit some kind of reaction.

You may find your Nirvana in Las Vegas! Are you getting closer to moving out West?

Everything has been put on hold for now. Our church needed a piano player and I answered the call... So I leave it in the Lord's hands. My life is not my own.
