So far it looks bad. I stopped by storage on way to work, not where I remember them to be. Once at work and thinking about it I remembered why. A couple of years ago a co-worker took a two tier table added wheels and was using as a mobile work table. We were kidding around and we decided to pimp her ride. Everyone brought in goofy car stuff for it. Mine was curb feelers. I don't know what happened from there. They could have gone home with someone, been thrown out, or I could have brought them home and put them somewhere else. I will keep an eye out for them at work and home when in my hiding spots. If they turn up, they will head your way.

Hey Sub, could you post a pic of the metal one? I have torn my place up looking for one of mine so the young guys who don't know them can see one.
    Nice set up there!

Anyway, I picked up a new addition to my record collection today. I freaking love this album. Took it home, cleaned it, and it plays as clear as a bell. It's almost like she's in the room singing to me.

Another nice find! Janis Joplin, early 70's.

    Re: What do you collect?

Janis died in 1970. Pearl was recorded in 1970 just before her death, and it was released in 1971 posthumously. I love Janis. She was such an awesome artist. Her voice might not have had the tone and smoothness of some singers, but the sheer power and passion in her voice made her one of the true voices of the era.

    She had an awesome Porsche.

    Re: What do you collect?

The lack of tone and smoothness is exactly why she was such a one of a kind talent. Her rawness can evoke emotions from songs that few others can. The power and the clarity are wonderful.

    Re: What do you collect?

That's just it... It's raw power and emotion. Let me tell you, listening to Janis on a high quality vinyl setup is a whole different experience from my CDs and MP3s of hers. It feels so much more real. That wonderful imperfection isn't smoothed over; it's right out there for you to hear. I love the short funny tracks like Mercedes Benz, too.

Give me a couple days - all the old 45's are packed away. It will take some rooting around. Meantime, try a Google search for "45 rpm record spindle adapter". Look down the page about halfway - see the metal discs with the snap edge - 10 of them on a yellow background ? Like mine. Zinc casting.

For more home stereo pics, open my albums in the profile in my username. Album #2

The turntable is an Oracle DELPHI-IV, made in Montreal. The tonearm is a SME IV-iv, England. Interconnect is VanDenHul III. The cartridge shown is a Monster Cable Alpha Genesis 2000-II MC (replaced by a Lyra Helikon MC; replaced last week with a Lyra Kleos MC).

At today's retail prices that complete turntable setup would go for about $13,000+.

EDIT at 8:35 - This will whet your appetite for the High End in music reproduction..........price is for the turntable alone - the SME tonearms are at the bottom of the page. Then add a $3,000 cartridge...............
