    Derelicts In Your Area

I thought it would be cool to start a thread about derelict cars in your area. Stuff thats been sitting for a long while, but could maybe be coerced back into life with a little work. Something that might run if you banged around under the hood long enough. I managed to find several examples around our little town of Otsego. Here we go!

We kick things off with an early 70's Chevrolet Camaro. It's been up on blocks in that carport for just about as long as I can remember. No idea who owns it, but sometimes there is an old lady out in the front yard.

    Z28!

Next on the list is my favorite, a 1958 Imperial Crown Southampton. This too, has been sitting for as far back as I can remember. It actually used to sit in the alleyway next to the building, and mysteriously appeared in the parking lot one day. I desperately want to buy it but have only seen the owner once, when I was much younger.

Spotted this crazy van on my way to see The Twins.

The Twins (Almost identical in color.)

    80's Town Car

    80's Brougham

This is where I went next, the remains of an old auto shop-turned-junkyard. (I MIGHT have gone "exploring" with a friend behind the building once, and there are probably close to 50 cars back there, everything from the 1950's to the 1970's.)

70's Thunderbird. It's been for sale forever, but was recently moved. You can see the ruts it left behind.

This dude LOVES his Rancheros. There are two up against the building, and about 5 more out back.

Can you see the tow truck?

    I love that patina.

I think this is the crown jewel of that old shop. Hiding under all of those boxes is an almost flawless late 70's Camaro.

Well, that's all I've got for now. Let's see your local derelicts!

Great subject. I wish I had something to contribute from my neighborhood, but the code enforcement Nazis won't stand for any derelict cars. Love the Imperial! One of my favorite years is 1963, the one with the frog eyes.

    Re: Derelicts In Your Area

No real "derelicts" in my neighborhood, but there is a brown 1980's Toyota 2wd truck that is still being used regularly, it looks really damn nice for the year. The oldest thing is way down the street, its a decent looking silverish grey 65-66 Plymouth Fury. Has the way cool stand up hood ornament.

Of course there is the moron with a black Bentley Continental GT in the driveway. I think its his girlfriend's or boyfriend's car, considering he lives in a $100,000 duplex with no garage, I doubt he'd be owning a car worth as much as his house.

There's a couple around, but the only one worth noting is this Deville. I actually posted it on the forum a few months back. She's still there. Car's on Barre Paxton Road in Rutland MA.

The interior wasn't in that bad shape, but the driver's seat was horribly torn up for some reason and the head liner was moldy and sagging off. Common issue on these from what I've read.

    Re: Derelicts In Your Area

    Plenty.

Let's start things off with the '55 Wagon in Ocala.

The Panel truck in North Webster.

A '37 Chevy bus and another old truck in a field in Beulah.

These two sit around in a little hidden rural area in the middle of Orlando that no one seems to know about.

In another rural section or Orlando.

Now in my immediate area, some cars I pass basically every day, that no one even knows are there.

Well, this is really a tractor, not a car, but hey... It sits in the woods right off the highway.

As does this '51 International Firetruck.

Right nearby is this '58 Chevy Tow Truck.

    And this '46 Chevy too.

    Not necessarily a bad thing.

Damn, if this was a British "classic" car magazine all those derelicts pictureed above would be prime candidates for restoration! "Hey, Nigel, look I just found a rusted wing from a 1950 Armstrong-Siddeley. Let's restore the car!"

The ones Dullahan posted are hideous. I thought that late 70's Deville was bad.
